Hello To All Blue Ridge Collectors, Old Collectors and New Collectors!!

This should be of interest, especially to all of the new collectors out there!!

According to the information in one of my books, these E&R plates are NOT Southern Potteries/Blue Ridge because they are not on a Blue Ridge blank pottery piece. These sellers appear to be taking the information from the book they are referencing (the book that I have) and contorting it so that they can state that their plate is a Blue Ridge product. The section they take the info from is called 'The Jobber Jumble' with a small, ambiguous paragraph about E&R. It states that the E&R (Ebeling & Rauss, which was a British company that later moved to Pennsylvania, hence the Bell) backstamp has been found on 'boots' at times, then it gives a little history about where and when E&R has been in business and closes by stating that the are 'strictly a wholesaler for the gift shop trade; they do not make any pottery themselves'. So, in this particular section, it never really confirms nor denies that E&R was a Southern Potteries jobber; however, on the next pages where drawings and photos of the various jobber marks are shown, there is NOT an E&R mark exemplified. What it all boils down to is that the E&R egg plate is NOT Blue Ridge--that's why the chicken looks completely different and the plates are actually on different pottery blanks. My question is: why have the E&R plates sold for $20 more in the past. Do buyers know that they are really not authentic Blue Ridge, yet are willing to pay for a good copy, rather than the high valued authentic Blue Ridge egg plate that's referenced in the books so that they will have BOTH documented 'versions' of the plate, or do they simply NOT KNOW that the E&R plates are NOT Blue Ridge? Although most Blue Ridge collectors are very knowledgeable about their pottery, my guess is that it's the latter. Therefore, all of you NEW Blue Ridge collectors, BEWARE!!

ALL AUTHENTIC Blue Ridge Egg dishes have the jobber (Peasant Village) mark on the back ~ and encircled PV. Also, the BLUE RIDGE Egg dish is in all the Southern Potteries Inc. Blue Ridge Dinnerware Guides by Bill and Betty Newbound, which you can buy at your bookstore & on Ebay. The Blue Ridge marks & Jobber marks are all editions by these well known Blue Ridge experts!

I DO hope this information helps you in your purchases!

Have a Blessed Day!
