From XG-7 to X-700, they are all excellent cameras which uses Minolta MD/MC mount lenses widely available for very reasonable prices. They are cheap and durable (except for couple problems)

For a fraction of price of Nikon or Canon MF cameras, you can build a Minolta  XG series System. Form that point I believe Minolta has always made excelent gear but they were underrated. Therefore it was a pity to see them quit from this area.

Before starting with the issues, XG1's light meter only works when "A" mode selected, therefore, do not get into perception of the meter does not work, when you see no lights in the meter at manual modes.

1- EVERYTHINGS WORKS BUT CAMERA DOES NOT FIRE: Their biggest issue with caps, their caps get dried out and they do not fire. Everything (meter etc works) but when you press the shutter, it looks like power dies and camera does not do anything. There are 2 caps which control the first and secoind curtain movement and they needs to be replaced. One is at the bottom. Relatively easy to replace if you are OK with the soldering gun. One is at the top, this requires more major disassembly and skills.

To prevent this, I would suggest fire your camera occasionally by this way cap will not dry out.

You can check this page to learn how to fix this issue:

2- VIEWFINDER BLOCKED:
I saw this on couple XG7 and XG1, there seems to be something in the mirror penta prism which gets lose and block 1/3 of viewfinder as a horizontal band. Not a easy fix, does not worth to try I would say. Because, even though you disassamble the top, a lot mor disassambly needed to reach that and you can easily  damage the electronic citcuitry which is on the way.

3- BAD LIGHT SEALS: you camera light seals needs to be replaced at this age. If it not already done, you are looking around $50-75 range to have this fixed.

Therefore, as usual, my suggestion is buy from a good reputation seller or ensure you check all those once you get it and you have option to return.
