Benefits

MiniDVD camcorders record onto 3" discs instead of tapes. While different camcorders are compatible with different types of discs, all MiniDVD formats offer outstanding convenience and record high-quality video and sound. Small and streamlined, MiniDVD camcorders include additional benefits that make them stand out from other formats:

Convenience:

Mini DVD-Rs play back in most DVD players. In a few simple steps you can watch your footage. These discs can also be sent to any friends or relatives who have a DVD player, so they too can watch that perfect goal or endless dance recital.

Security:

With MiniDVD you don't need to worry about recording over previously shot footage; the camcorder will search out and find any available free space on the DVD before recording begins.

Comprehensive editing options:

MiniDVD camcorders make editing easy. After you film clips on MiniDVD-RW or MiniDVD-RAM, you can access each scene individually without rewinding or fast-forwarding. Simply choose from among the displayed images and edit while the disc is still in the camcorder. Editing features may include delete, play list, divide, combine, fade and title.

Digital still capability:

Many MiniDVD camcorders also take still photos. These images are perfect for emailing, posting on the web or even printing. With a huge storage capacity, discs hold thousands of stills. Some MiniDVD camcorders also record stills on memory cards for added convenience.

Recording formats

MiniDVD-R:

Record with MiniDVD-R when you need convenient, write-once recording. MiniDVD-Rs play back in most DVD players and DVD-ROM drives. This means you need only put the disc in the camcorder, record and perform a simple "finalizing procedure" to watch your footage. These discs are also an easy and inexpensive way to share videos with any friends and relatives who have DVD players.

DVD-RW:

MiniDVD-RWs also play in most DVD players. The big difference is that these discs are rewritable, so you can record, erase and record again on the same disc. They're amazingly convenient and great money savers.

DVD-RAM:

MiniDVD-RAM offers the widest range of editing options. And, they're rewritable more than 100,000 times for outstanding durability and flexibility. Many DVD recorders play MiniDVD-RAM discs. Another option is to connect your MiniDVD camcorder directly to your TV for quick and easy viewing using the cables included with the camcorder. Or, hook up your camcorder to your PC through a USB 2.0 or IEEE 1394 port for viewing and editing.

Making copies

MiniDVD camcorders are also capable of recording from other sources. You can shoot a video, download it to a PC for editing, and then use the camcorder to burn a copy of the video onto another disc. It is easy to copy discs for friends and family by recording from computers and DVD recorders.
