Playa del Carmen is 20 miles of Cancun in Mexico's Quintana Roo State. Playa del Carmen has a lot of hotels and a main turist area with shops and restaurants.

South of Playa del Carmen is Tulum and the Mayan Ruins that are amazing. The Beach at Tulum is straight out of a Corona comercial and you can rent a hut for $10 a day with a bunk or $5 a day with out a bunk. This is the most beautiful place I've seen in Mexico and it is very safe.

There is a lot eco-turism in Quintana Roo as well Xcaret that is a nature park. Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel are very close. Chichen Itza ruins are little futher but we'll worth the effort.

The Beaches in this part of Mexico are in the Caribbean Sea and have white sand a turquoise water are some of the most beautiful in the World.
