Below is a Mephisto shoe sizing chart that I've found to be very accurate for their shoes.

From my experience, Mephisto's European sizes run towards the smaller of the two U.S. listed sizes.

For example, Mephisto lists a woman's European 39 as a U.S. 8.5 or 9. It's actually in between but, much closer to a 8.5. If you wear a woman's U.S. size 9, a European 39 may be perfect for flat sandals with a corkbed that forms to the wearer's foot, but too short for athletic, close-toed shoes, especially if worn with socks.

Be wary of USED Mephisto sandals with a cork footbed. The cork footbeds quickly mold to the shape and size of the wearer. If they're too old, you'll miss out on all of their wonderful support.
