Buying jeans on Ebay can be somewhat unnerving, trying to decide on the best combination waist, rise, inseam, hip, leg & general cut sizes. Although the sizing on various brands varies a bit, a "standard" size chart does exist (included later in this guide) to help you decide the best fit for you.
So where do you start? For best results, start with measuring your 'favorite' pair of jeans you already own. Rather than just looking at the numeric size (size 30, 32 etc.), actually measure these favorite jeans of yours. A quick worksheet might look like this:
Waist = _____ "
Rise = _____ "
Inseam = _____ "
Leg Width = _____ "
Measurements are taken like this: (some are obvious, others are not)
» Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist.
» Rise: This will determine where the jeans "sit" on you... measure from the top of the jean to the seam at the crotch. This will determine your preference toward normal, mid-rise, low-rise or ultralow-rise.
» Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam to the leg bottom.
» Leg Width: Measure across the leg bottom... determines preference towards straight, boot or flare leg.
Then compare your ideal measurements with those provided by the Ebay seller. It is the responsibility of the seller to provide all these crucial measurements. IF THE MEASUREMENTS MATCH, THEN YOU SHOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FIT.
Here is a "standard" size chart for comparison & general information only: (in inches)
SIZE XS S M L XL XXL XXXL XXXXL
WAIST 27-28 29-31 32-34 36-38 40-42 44-48 50-52 52-52
