If you've been selling on eBay for any length of time, you´ve probably asked yourself how you can maximize your sales and profits.
You want to grab your customers´ attention yet remain professional. You want the benefits of your product to be loud and clear. However, you´d probably prefer not to use all caps and 72 pt font.
So you use carefully chosen text. And graphics. Well-taken photos... All to communicate why customers should choose you over your competition.
If your experience is anything like mine, I bet you get questions about things that are written right on your auction description. Or about a key feature of your product, even though you have the answer in bold, red and highlighted at the top of the page. Don't you wonder what else goes unnoticed?
So how can you communicate the most important stuff to your buyers and make sure they get it?
Talking Auctions
More and more eBay sellers are creating "talking auctions." With talking auctions, you can add a recording of your own voice to your eBay auctions and websites. The very next customer to visit your auction will hear the message loud and clear.
Facts:
-
People remember only 10% of what they read
-
People remember only 20% of what they hear
-
People remember 50% of what they read and hear
-
It has been found that audio increases a website visitor's attention span by 45%
Voice grabs bidders' attention, communicates information more efficiently, reaches more visitors, adds emotion, and builds critical relationships.
Is the Technology Difficult to Use?
How Well Does It Work?
Despite some skepticism, hundreds of eBay sellers are realizing the simple fact that sound on websites works.
Independent tests have been done on voice-enabled eBay auctions. The results are in and they are clear: auctions sell more often and for higher prices with voice than without.
To communicate a message, a picture is worth a thousand words. However, if you´re trying to convey the intangibles, such as trust, honesty, customer service, and a multitude of other things, it´s hard to put those into a picture.
Do I Need to Have a Radio-Quality Voice?
And that's probably why it works. Voice is a human element in the digital labyrinth of eBay. People will stop and listen to a regular voice. You've got them. You can tell them, in your own words, about your product and business. Tell them to visit your store, thank them for stopping by, tell them to scroll down and "place their bid now."
To sum it all up, people feel like they know you when they hear your voice. And as we all know, we´d much rather buy from people we know.
Talking auctions make more money!
Adding voice will personalize your auctions and differentiate you from your competitors. It takes only a couple of minutes to add and you'll see results right away.
