Congratulations on your pregnancy. Unlike 5 or 10 years ago, you now have great fashion choices, when purchasing maternity clothing. Here are some basic guidelines from NWsalesconnection for figuring out your maternity size:

When purchasing tops and jackets, you should simply purchase your pre-pregnancy size. If you wore a medium pre-pregnancy, then you will probably wear a medium in most maternity tops or jackets. If you are in your last trimester, and you have gained more than an average amount of weight, then you may need to go up a size.

When purchasing bottoms (jeans, shorts, skirts, pants, etc) from NWsalesconnection the type of waist band that you are choosing, should be determined by which stage of your pregnancy you are in. Normally, in the first trimester, you will just need the no panel pants or adjustable waist pants.  Near the end of your first trimester, you will probably move into the demi panel pants.  For many, the demi panel pants will take you most of the way through your pregnancy.  However, during your later 2nd and on into your 3rd trimester, you may need the classic panel, roll panel or full panel waisted pants.

Normally, you will wear the same size maternity bottoms, as your pre-pregnancy size. Here is a size chart for most maternity Gap and Old Navy maternity bottoms:

At NWsalesconnection I try to measure all of my maternity bottoms at the hip area.  This gives you a better idea of sizing, than listing the waist measurement. The waist measurement can vary greatly in most bottoms, due to the types of waist treatments, (ie-adjustable, demi, full panel, etc)
