Marketing with Post It Notes for your Real Estate Investing Business.

Post it notes are relatively new to the marketing world but are proving (For the time being) to be one of the most simple yet powerful tools for getting your message out.

The size of the post-it note and manufacturing technique makes it the cheapest bar none method of advertising out there. (Cost is less than .01 per post it) So as far as cost goes the post-it note is the cheapest method out there. Also becuase they are so  inexpensive. You can afford to post one nearly everywhere you go. Try leaving them where large amounts of people will view them such as your post office, city hall, or even your local grocery stores. You’ll be amazed at how many contacts you get from a small yellow piece of paper.

Custom Post-it notes are manufactured by 3M and the custom orders that are required make the initial investment comparable to using flyers, or door hangers etc… however the quantity you will get will enable you to hit a much larger area than with other methods.

Think about what it is that comes to your mind when you see a post it not stuck to your door. 90% of people in a recent test said that they thought Fedex, or UPS or possibly another carrier had left a package notice. This statistic gives the user of the post it notes an extremely high read ratio for the money.

A well designed post it should have a simple headline just like when using the bandit signs. “We Buy Houses” or “I Buy Houses” You can have a couple of extra lines of text like maybe "Guaranteed offer" or like I use "Free Report Online". Keep the extra text to a minimum, and the old "Less is more" really applies here.

Here is an example of a simple yet effective post it note that I have personally used in the past.

Now that you have your design its time to do some marketing. The most important part about marketing is this simple rule. “It is better to get your message to five hundred people five times” “than a thousand people one time”. This is where you have an advantage as for the same you would spend on say 2 to 3 thousand door hangers you can get 10 thousand post-it notes. Take the quantity you ordered and divide that number by 5. This is the number of houses in a selected neighborhood you should concentrate on.  All the experts agree that the biggest advertising mistake made by marketers is that it is not repeated consistently enough. If your budget does not allow you to hit an area 5 times then shrink the size of your area so that you can.

If you have time or a limited budget you can distribute the post it notes yourself. It doesn’t take long just stick one toeach front door and move on.  If you can afford it however I highly recommend hiring someone to distribute them for you. The Boy & Girls Scouts of America as well as 4H clubs are always looking for funding for activities and they will be happy to do the work. Your message is also much warmer received when the messenger is a young child earning money for summer camp.

IMPORTANT: It is not uncommon to see nothing from your initial marketing efforts until the 3rd or fourth round so do not get discouraged. Repetition is the proven key have patience and keep it up you will generate some great results.
