Magician Mark Wilson and Nani Darnell Wilson have signed lots of autographs since their rise to television fame in the 1950s.  My name is San Diego Magician Michael E. Johnson, and I'm a big fan of MarkWilson and Nani Darnell.

This couple is the most influential pair in modern magic history.  They had the first magic series in network television history, "The Magic Land of Allakazam".  They wrote the most popular book in magic history, "Mark Wilson's Course In Magic".  They did one of the first infomercials in television history, and produced some of the earliest promotional incentives in television history.  I 've seen them lecture and perform; it's a fabulous show!  Here's what I've learned about these famous magician's autographs.

In Person

The best way to get a real Wilson signature is live.  I've met them at a few events and they always seem happy to meet people and sign autographs.

One place to look for them is at the famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.  Mark Wilson is a member of the Board of Directors there for the Academy of Magic Arts.  He attends plenty of meetings, and occasionally has dinner during the week.  He also teaches a magic class through the Magic Castle.

If you really want to meet him, I recommend joining the Academy of Magical Arts.  This club offers membership options for persons who live out of town, even for non-magicians!  I'm a member and it's great.  Because of Club rules, you have to be super-polite and discrete about requesting autographs.  But it's worth it.

Another place to find Mark and Nani Wilson is when they lecture for a magic club or convention.  I attended their lecture in San Diego sponsored by Ring 76 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.  I was able to purchase lots of interesting merchandise and get it autographed.  They also signed collectible items I brought in to the lecture.  It was well worth the cost!  The item above was a special program on "Nani Darnell Wilson and Her Secret San Diego History," which she signed for me on the cover.

By Mail

It is possible to buy an assortment of autographed items direct from the Mark Wilson Magic website.  This includes several signed photos, including a selection from "The Magic Land of Allakazam".

To find his website, just do an on-line search of "Mark Wilson Magic" and go to the page on "Memorabilia".  The last time I checked, he was selling signed photos for $10 each, and signed Magic Castle posters for $35 each.  I have a feeling he would sign almost anything purchased from his on-line store, if you asked.  He also has lots of DVDS for sale too.

On eBay

I've bought several interesting Mark Wilson autographs on eBay, especially vintage items.  The prices are usually reasonable.  Finding his items can be difficult, though, because of his popular name.  Here's a few eBay categories to look under:

  1. Collectibles > Fantasy, Mythical & Magic > Magic
  2. Collectibles > Autographs
  3. Entertainment Memorabilia > Autographs-Original

You can also search under "Mark Wilson", but be sure to ignore the many references to the golfer Mark Wilson or the author Mark Twain who wrote "Pudd'n Head Wilson".  I find it works best if I narrow my search through these links:

Magician Mark Wilson or Mark Wilson magic

Mark Wilson autograph or Mark Wilson autographed

Mark Wilson signed or Mark Wilson signature

On eBay I've seen copies of his book signed, photos with signatures, items from "The Magic Land of Allakazam" including a coloring book with cast signatures, his famous poster signed of him levitating Nani in front of the Magic Castle, even corporate promotional items with signatures.

Printed Signatures

I have discovered some printed signatures on certain Mark Wilson collectibles, especially related to his fan clubs and membership cards.  These signatures were not hand-signed; rather, they were actually copies of his signature.  Here's a few items to watch out for, still highly collectible but without original signatures.

I hope this Guide has been helpful to you!  If you have the time, please take a moment to leave feedback.  That would make me happy.  If you have any updates to this Guide, let me know and I'll keep adding to it.  Thanks for reading and have a happy day!
