Introduction:

Scrapbooking has become an artform within itself over the years.  What used to be a fun way to display family photos, has now become a forum for story telling, folk art, primitive art and advertising.  Scrapbooking has become more technical, sophisticated and artistic.  It has taken the home craft scene by storm and has now entered the mainstream of art.

Description:

This guide shows you a way of taking your favorite scrapbooking ideas, and combining them into a gift basket or bag for; presents, welcome gifts, wedding and shower gifts, and office gifts.

The Scrapbook:

You can use a traditional scrapbook found on Ebay or at your local craft store - the size is up to you.  I chose to use a simple, smaller scrapbook and covered it with bits and pieces out of my scrapbooking supplies.

Making the scrapbook cover with your scrapbooking scraps

Use different sizes, shapes, colors and designs of scraps for your project. Make sure you have plenty of pre-torn or pre-cut scraps before you start your project.

You will also need:

A scrapbook - any size

A one half inch or one inch foam brush

One jar of Modgepodge

Accents: Flat-bottomed jewels, pictures, punches, dye casts, ribbons  - anything your creative heart desires.

Glue Gun

Apply a thin layer of Modgepodge with the foam brush to one quarter of your project.

Quickly, before the Modgepodge sets, apply your scraps so they overlap one another, do not leave spaces between your pieces

Apply Modgepodge to another section of your project and repeat the process until the cover of your scrapbook is completely recovered.

Let dry at least 24 hours

Now apply different accents, such as family pictures, pressed flowers, ribbons, etc.  As you apply your accents, put a small dab of the hot glue on the back of each accent.  Continue til your design is completed.  After your accents have set, apply a thin layer of Modgepodge to the entire project

Let dry 48 hours.

Additions to your Gift Bag or Basket:

Include in your gift:

a pair of inexpensive scrapbooking scissors

a sheet or two of stickers

an acid free glue stick

some scrapbooking pages

die cuts

anything that you would like to make scrapbooking convenient to your gift receiver.

Tie it all up:

I chose to use a celophane bag that ties at the top, you could use a basket, a bowl, or other decorative container.

Add all of your gift pieces together and tie at the top of the bag. If using a basket or other container, use clear celophane wrap, bunch at the top and tie with raffia or a satin ribbon.

You now have an easy, simple gift - that the recipient can use to make their own scrapbook memories.
