Making Money on eBay As a Trading Assistant
I have been a trading assistant on ebay for well over a year now in the Kansas City area.
I am the leader of the local Kansas City Professional Sellers Group. We try to meeting monthly and have meetings with other people that sell on ebay. Some sell for others... some from themselves. Some for a hobby and some for a full-time income.
Thus, I have heard a few things about a few things on problems and opportunities with eBay sales.
I hear you getting bored... and asking ok... but... how do I make money on eBay. It is very easy to make money on eBay. You simply must have people that want to sell their items on eBay, but don't want to do it themselves.
Listing items on ebay professionally has a major learning curve. Anyone can sell a brand new something that is valued at $5,000.00. The trick is to not get lured into selling $5.00 items for other people. There is simply not enough money in it to make a profit.
Once people find out you list things on eBay for others, your family will have some old shirts that they want you to sell... and your mother-in-law has these cups she thinks may sell. Even though they might sell for $3.00, and bring you nothing... in the beginning you might want to list them to do nothing more than get your feedback started. You want to list items that don't bring tons of money up til you have a good 50 or so positive feedback... and then as you get over 100, start being more selective. Slowly raise your commissions a bit higher... and you will be surprised the higher clientel you have as well.
As far as myself... I try not to list anything that won't bring at least $30.00. If I can, I group some things together and sell as a "LOT" in order to get more per auction... This will overall make the customer more money per item... and at the same time save you time by creating ebay ads. Imaging making 40 ads instead of 100. This also means that you ship out 40 packages versus 100.
So... how do you make money on ebay selling for other people?
1) Sell things that you know will bring at least $25.00 each.
2) Put a minimum commission on each item... that can be around $5.00.
3) Make yourself look professional... Have a good username!
4) Try to have the seller do some of the legwork for the items they want to sell. Have them research what it has been selling for, therefor they are not disappointed when it doesn't sell for an unrealistic price.
5) Advertise a bit... Have a website... Have a contract...
6) Word of mouth - Treat you current customers well.
