Many folks offer hand painted items but I have noticed they are mostly works of published decorative artists. Make it your own. An idea starts for most people from someone elses idea, take it, fly with it, add all your own touches, imagine it if the piece were in your home and what would you like to see on it. Paint a picture like I did of the one below that is one of my sisters photo's.  I have sold most all of my painting books because I now get my own ideas that are unique and you will not find anywhere else unless someone else gets their idea from me :). I find that if it is your own you will have much more success selling.
