Got some spare or no-longer used LEGO toys around the house? Or maybe just want to make a few dollars in your spare time?
Well . . . here's the guide you need to sell those LEGOs on eBay and make $$$!!!
Below I will attempt to answer most of the basics for selling LEGO on eBay successfully. I will cover the following topics.
Verifying LEGO Parts Verifying a Sets Completeness Making a Good Description Making a Good Title Picking a Good Starting Price (Includes a small "Price Guide" for your convenance.)
Verifying LEGO Parts
- One of the most important things is to verify that you are selling Genuine LEGO Brand parts. Most buyers want to be sure they are getting real LEGO parts, not off brand clones. See below on how to verify that they are really LEGO, or if you want to skip this step and save time, just offer a 100% Money Back Guarantee if the buyer is not satisfied.
- To verify you've got the real stuff, just look the piece over. If you see the small word "LEGO" on it somewhere, then it's the real thing. If not, it still might be, but you should say you don't guarantee all pieces to be LEGO brand. (Tip - Most normal type pieces have the word "LEGO" on top of the studs on the piece.)
Verifying a Sets Completeness
- Equally important though is making sure that any "LEGO Sets" you are selling are 100% complete. Lots of sellers just say the set is "complete" without ever checking to see if it is. This is not a good way to make your buyer satisfied with their purchase or build a good reputation on eBay. To find the inventory list for almost any set all you have to do is go to peeron.com and search the Set Number. There you will find a discription of each piece and a link to a picture of it too.
- If there are pieces missing you should list them in your description so buyers know what to expect. Also, you should mention the General Condition of the LEGO parts. If you don't have the time to verify the completeness of the set, you should list it as "sold as is" and say that you have no idea if everything is there.
Making a Good Description
- As always, a good picture will also help sell your item, but a good description to go with it really helps. If you are selling a "LEGO Set" & don't know much about it you can use these sites to find some helpful info. lego.com, peeron.com, bricklink.com. Telling how many pieces the set has, how may Minifigures, and if the box and instructions for the set are included are the MUSTS for your description.
- If you are just selling parts, be sure to tell about how many Pieces there are, how many Minifigures, and the Item Numbers the the parts come from if you know. Also give a list of the Numbers for any Instruction Books and Boxes that are included.
Making a Good Title
- The Title is very important as it is what helps people find & view your listing. Some key words to include are - LEGO & the Theme(s) of the sets or parts in the auction. Also if they are New mention that in the title too. Since Minifigures are some of the best selling LEGO items, including the word Minifigure or Minifig will also help people find your item. And if your selling a set, include the Set Number and Name if you can fit it.
Picking a Good Starting Price
- Finally, you need to decide on your starting price. Generally you can search for items like yours under "Completed Listings" on eBay to see what it would be likely to sell for. If you don't find enough info this way, you can use this little "Price Guide" I made of the general prices LEGO items go for on eBay currently. (Please note, these prices are not guaranteed!)
