Remember Shrinky-Dinks as a kid? They were fun then, and they still are! Make unique, original jewelry using blank 'Shrink Plastic' sheets and rubber stamps.
First, decide on a stamp and ink color. Using permanent ink, stamp your image onto the Shrink Plastic. You can color it with colored pencils, but remember, the colors intensify as the plastic shrinks. Punch all holes before baking.
You can make earrings, necklaces, key chains... anything you want.
Children as young as 8 can make these with minimal adult supervision. They would be a nice Scouts or sleepover activity.
You can also use rubber stamps and polymer clay to make jewelry. Use a deep-etched stamp and press it into polymer clay. Remove the stamp, and bake the clay.
Once it hardens and then cools, you can use a bit of pastel (or eye shadow) and rub it into the design to highlight it. It can also be painted with acrylic once it cools.
For a different look, try rubbing a bit of chalk or pastel before baking the clay.
Always follow Manufacturer's instructions for baking temperatures and times.
