Burp cloths are expensive. But who wants to take a plain ol' boring white cloth diaper and use it? I love to look fashionable and have my blankets match my children's clothing. It's easy to make your own super cute burp cloths even if you don't sew! First, buy a pack of plain white cloth diapers. You can usually get a pack of twelve for 10-14 dollars. Get a nice brand and nice fabric content, after all, you will be using these A LOT. Now decide which of these is something you can do (or do a couple of the ideas!)
- Buy iron on appliques. Peel the back off and iron them on! You can leave them like this, or you can add a thin line of paint outlining the applique to keep it nice looking.
- Get ric rac or other fancy trim. Use a simple sewing machine and sew it on in a straight line. Or use fabric glue!
- Cut pieces of fabric yourself and use fabric glue to glue them on.
- Use a light pencil or washable marker and draw or write your child's name or initials or other cute sayings and then use paint to make it permanent.
- Ribbon makes great bows and fabric glue will help it stay put.
