Maitreya Bodhisattva(Skt.) or Metteyya Bodhisattva(Pali)
He is the future Buddha of this world in Buddhist escatology. He is a Bodhisattva who will appear on this earth and will attain complete enlightenment and teach pure Dharma. Maitreya is the successor of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni. He currently reside in Tushita(pali: Tusita) heaven and said to be reachable via mediatation. Maitreya will come to earth after the teachings of the current Buddha, the Dharma are no longer taught and are completely forgotten. As a Bodhisattva Maitreya is quite popular in Theravada countries.
Maitreya is Yellow in color. He hold a flower of Nagakeshar in his right hand and a mendicant bowl with his left. As a Buddha posture, his hands display Dharmachakra mudra with legs down on lotus. He is typically pictured seated, with his both feet on the ground indicating he hasn't yet completed ascending the throne. He is dressed in clothes of either a Bhikshu or Indian Royalty.As a Bodhisattva he is always seen standing and dressed in jewels. He usually wears a small stupa in his hairdress and could be holding Dharmachakra resting on a lotus. A khata is always tied around his waist as a gridle.
