# 4B+: New USPS standard in the locking mechanism in apartment mailboxes.
Cluster Box Unit (CBU): A group of mailboxes stacked on top of each other, usually used in apartment complexes. They can only be accessed by the postal service and the person(s) who have a key to their mailbox.
Collection Box: Mailbox for tenants to use to send out going mail.
Commercial: Mailboxes that are used for larger scale mail deliveries in apartment complexes and businesses. These larger deliveries include packages and a heavy volume of mail.
Contemporary: Mailboxes with a streamlined shape.
Freestanding: Mailboxes that do not need to be mounted.
Finial: Ball or cap that goes on top of a mailbox post.
Parcel Locker: Found in or around apartment complexes, a parcel locker is an alternative to a mailbox that allows a tenant to have a safe and reliable way to receive packages.
Pedestal Mount: Thicker mounts than post mounts used for heavier boxes such as drop-off boxes.
Post Mount: A stand or post that is used to mount a mailbox or a group of mailboxes to use for curbside mail delivery.
Private Distribution: When mail is delivered to a central location and then distributed to individual tenant or resident mailboxes by a property manager or similar indicidual.
Rear Access: Mailboxes that can be accessed from the back.
Recessed Mount: Mailboxes that can be set into a wall.
Residential: Mailboxes used for smaller scale delivery in neighborhoods, condos, and apartment complexes.
Spreaders: Allow you to attach more than one mailbox to a post mount.
Traditional: A style that is both elegant and reminiscent of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Transitional: Transitional style is a marriage of traditional and contemporary finishes, materials equating to a timeless design. Mailbox lines are simple yet sophisticated featuring either straight lines or rounded profiles.
Wall Mount: Mailboxes that can be mounted to the wall on a porch or the side of a house or place of business.
