Magic the Gathering Repack Guide!
I have to admit I am one of them. I decided to write this guide to help customers find what to look for.
My top picks on what to look for.
1. Check their feedback. Not just their rating but actually read their feedback and who its from. Are they receiving feedback from buyers with high ratings themselves or from new e-Bayers. Do they have a high amount of mutually withdrawn feedback, Why?
2. Read the entire auction description! Some sellers have disclaimers like; I have made more repacks then listed, there are multiple listings of this auction, Don't expect all the cards in the same auction! Is this a bad thing? Well at least they say don't expect all the good cards, but sometimes the disclaimer is hidden and very difficult to find. Also watch out for guarantees. Some sellers "Guarantee" certain cards to be in their repacks. Then when the repacks don't sell out, did anyone pull the expensive cards? If the expensive cards do go, who are they being pulled by? Is it a new e-Bay member or someone that is an established e-Bay buyer. Some sellers could set up "Ghost accounts" (an account controlled by a friend or family member). When they want a Black Lotus or another expensive card to be pulled they simply give it to their ghost account. e-Bay does try to guard against this but I don't know how well they can protect against it. Don't think that e-Bay is able to catch every single scammer, it is impossible!
3. Stand by your feedback. If you think the seller is a fraud or seems a little "fishy" don't be afraid to say so. You will probably get a retaliation feedback out of it but don't be afraid to take it. Others will see this and will be more willing to speak up if they thought the auction was fishy too. Now if you didn't pull well it is possible you just weren't lucky. Remember you could buy a whole booster box of Planar Chaos and still not pull a Damnation! However, if you bought 250 of 1000 repacks and don't pull any of the expensive listed cards THAT IS FISHY NOT UNLUCKY! Try not to attack or accuse a seller, just simple state the facts, I bought xx amount of repacks and pulled such an such cards, shipping was fast, ok, or slow. Also report potential fraud to e-Bay. They will keep it under there eye.
4. Shipping. Does the seller take forever to ship there items? Please check the post mark on the package it will let you know exactly how long it took your seller to get the item to the post office, and how long it took the post office to deliver it. Now once your package is at the post office it is possible that the package will take longer then normal to find its way to your house. This can't be controlled, and is not your sellers fault. In the terrible case of a lost package it is very unfortunate but it is also a possiblilty. Take out insurance if your not willing to assume this loss. If you spend more the $200 GET insurance! I don't know about you but I simply don't like flushing away $200.
5. ILLEGAL. It is Illegal to sell, give away, include as a bonus, ANY FAKE Magic the Gathering card! But, I bet right now you could find at least a dozen e-Bayers selling "Proxies" of cards. I don't know why e-Bay doesn't catch this. Maybe I am mistaken someone let me know.
Do you have any questions you would like answered about Magic the Gathering Repacks?
Let me know I will try an update this Guide to answer any questions I might receive.
First, let me say I will not point out any Repack seller(s) or accuse anyone of being a scam or fraud. Don't ask me who I think is Fishy. I am just trying to provide this guide to see some happy repack Buyers!
