Wouldn't you like to collect magazines that could bring back a nice profit if you decide to sell them? Well, here, I will not only give you a free guide into how to collect, but also the top picks, plus other notes. This guide does not include comic books.

First of all, note this: it is always better to get a magazine without an address label on the cover, and especially one without a rubber stamped address on it. Sometimes, (though I don't encourage this) removing a label can be accomplished without damaging a magazine, but it is rare, but when it's rubber stamped, it's almost impossible to remove the ink without damaging the cover.

Speaking of the cover, if it is torn in any manner, it is almost impossible to sell, even if it is a micro tear. This is especially true if the cover has a celebrity on it. Tears on other pages or pages that are torn out, can, and most often do, kill a sale. Folded pages hurt to a degree but most of them can be straightened out over time with the right equipment. Brittle pages and pages with severe discoloration will hurt value often. Writing is another no-no. You might sell magazines with these defects, but most collectors want their magazines to look as much like they did when they were put out on the newstand. Stains of any kind can and often hurt sales and mold is also a big no no..

The old saying KEEP IN A COOL DRY PLACE applies to all types of collecting, and especially with magazines and other paper collectibles.

Now as for the top picks, I'm giving you the most sought after magazines(the ones that sell the most often whether on Ebay or anywhere else).

VOGUE- ANY OF THEM!!! I don't care if they're the new edition or older ones (though pre 1970 often sell better than later editions), Vogue is a popular collectible.

SEVENTEEN- I simply challenge you to look at completed items at Seventeen magazines and see what some of them have sold for. I'll not say another word about this one, it speaks for itself.

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED FOR KIDS- These magazines are printed with uncut sheets of sportscards in them. So if you see one and the cards are gone, FORGET IT!!! And make sure if the cards are in them, that they are not all bent up. Some of the cards over the years have become worth thousands of dollars. Prime example, the Tiger Woods rookie.

SASSY- Sassy is one of those defunct magazines. It is no longer printed but highly sought after.

ROADSHOW and SCREEN- These two magazines were printed in Japan and contain tons of celebrity pics.

The French version of PHOTO. 1976-1989 the hottest years.

Mademoiselle- Another defunct magazine, but collectible especially pre 1987.

These are the very top picks, but remember, that certain criteria could make any magazine a highly sought after collectible. Magazines with celebrities on the cover or with huge photo layouts of them inside. News events that make the headlines and tv at the same time, or magazines which cover a story first.
