Recommended Reference Books for the Madeira & Marghab Linen Collector
The following books are excellent basic reference guides
for the collector of Madeira and Marghab linens.
The Embroidery of Madeira
by Carolyn Walker & Kathy Holman
Excellent examples and proper names of the Madeira stitches. Beautiful pictures and examples of vintage Madeira Handwork. No Marghab information or pictures. Out of Print, but your library can locate a copy for you, as it can be quite expensive to buy.

The Art of Madeira Embroidery
by Lillie McAnge
Recently written book with excellent examples and proper names of the Madeira stitches. Beautiful pictures and examples of both Madeira and Marghab Handwork. Twenty-two different Marghab patterns are shown and identified (many that were purchased right here on Ebay).

Perfection, Never Less, The Vera Way Marghab Story
by D.J. Cline
The history of Marghab linens and the biography of Vera Marghab, a most fascinating woman and co-founder of Marghab Linens. A bit disappointing, as only a handful of Marghab patterns are actually shown. This book is now in it's 2nd printing and is available directly from the SDSU Marghab museum gift shop for $45

Antique Linens from the Kitchen to the Boudoir
by Marsha Manchester
Besides featuring more Madeira and Marghab linens than any of the other linen collector books, both of these books have a wide variety of other vintage linens and lace with loads of beautiful pictures. Lots of Madeira and Marghab linen photos.
