Embroidery Protection for the Machine Embroidery Individuals here are a few - Do's and Don'ts!
Machine embroidery is an ever-growing business. The individual "digitizer" is an individual attempting to break into this world and offer for sale, new and exciting digitized embroidery designs never before seen to the community.
Lately, there has been a 'rash' of pirated and bootlegged items; either CD's or ready for downloads being sold on Ebay. Digitizers will not commonly be selling CD's containing 10,000 designs on a CD for $5.00 - Buyer BEWARE - Not always but most of the time, these CD's contain Black Market designs and can land you in a "mess" of trouble to say the least!
Lately the "ECSP" of which the lawyers name will remain nameless has been sending threatening email letters -
The common saying should always be. When in doubt, ASK the ebay seller!
Remember, Disney, ODSA, Amazing Designs, and Great Notions, Amazing Designs are protected by copyrights and these conglomerates will go after the “Black Market” seller.
No one in this business condones the re-selling of or black-marketing their designs. However, once one of these sellers is caught, and a deal is struck, the seller may agree to release his/hers personal information. If this does happen, the seller will then turn over a list of his/her buyers giving leeway for these companies to seek you out and seek retribution regardless of how inocent you may have aquired the designs.
Please keep in mind, the individual digitizers will keep their designs and design sets to either singles or smaller sets. If you do receive an email from any of the mentioned above, please seek the help of the Yahoo group called Embroidery Organization Information The individuals in this group are very knowledgeable and are more than willing to help.
Remember - This group is sending emails and letter to and harassing and intimidating the poor buyers - not the sellers. When the ECSP first started with their program the concept was an excellent one! But when they first required $150 and turning over the "black market" CD from the unsuspecting buyer. For a "NON PROFIT" Org, it is strange that their price has jumped to $300 and now $400 as well as requireing you to sign a wavier. The individuals at the link below will assist you. MAY 08 UPDATE.. They have gone up to asking for $500.00... I guess the price of stamps and gas has inflated their dumb requests for an individual to turn themselfs in for doing nothing wrong... GO AFTER THE SELLERS... Not the Buyers!!
