There are hundreds machine embroidered quilt blocks for sale on eBay every day. These provide an easy start for a number of projects. Many quilters and crafters find them adorable, but just don't know what to do with them, so here are some great ideas to get you started when you buy pre-embroidered blocks!
1. Use them as a larger than usual center square for log cabin blocks, coordinating the thread colors in the embroidery with the colors of the logs in the blocks. When you do this, you can make jumbo size blocks with just a little sewing.
2. Applique projects. You can back them with fusible web and then iron onto the backs of shirts, jackets, along the hem of a sheet or pillowcase. When you do this, be sure to either handsew or machine stitch a blanket stitch around the outer edge of each.
3. Framed art. The easiest projects with these blocks are using them as art to frame. You should iron them flat and then stretch around a cardboard square sized to match your frame. Tape them the backside of the square and then fit into the frame...presto! You have a great grouping to display on your wall!
4.Sew two together, line with coordinating fabric, and stitch a ribbon handle between the edges for an instant gift bag that can be used again as a mini handbag or tote.
This list should get you started. I'd love to hear about the projects that you make with these beautiful blocks!
