Getting caught up in all this Plasma, LCD and HDTV mumbo jumbo is a certainty when looking for a great TV now-a-days. In my search, I found nothing but a headache! After reading hundreds of reviews and visiting well over 100 stores and websites I've realized one thing... No TV is going to satisfy all of your needs! TV's are to the 2000's as computers were to the 90's! Obsolescence is inevitable and perfection is only for the moment. The only thing I can recommend is to wait and hold on just a little while longer. After the holidays I see a HUGE drop in prices on all LCD HDTV'S. This is because Plasmas are pretty much "the next big thing" as far as TV innovation goes. Honestly, give me an LCD HDTV any day! Most of them have dramatically lower prices than Plasmas AND have amazing looking picture quality! My advice is to save thousands of dollars and buy a nicely equipped Samsung, Philips, Sony or Sharp Aquos 32-60" LCD HDTV. These four companies from the research I've done seem to posses the best quality and performance for the money. The main features you should make sure to have on an LCD HDTV are:
1) HDMI
2) 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i input compatability
3) Built-in NTSC/ATSC tuner
The reason why these features are so important is because they will insure that you will be able to view ALL HD AND OTHER TV SIGNALS AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF QUALITY POSSIBLE. Also you will be able to aquire these amazing quality signals without having to purchase an exterior box (HD tuner) which would be used to tune better picture quality and signals from HD stations. On eBay, you will be able to find a TV with these features for only about $600 - $1,200 (probably even cheaper after the holidays). ***PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY FROM A REPUTABLE SELLER WITH AT LEAST A 98% POSSITIVE FEEDBACK RATING... Let me say that again FROM A REPUTABLE EBAY SELLER. This is the best way to go I feel at this point in time. Don't get stuck into a $5,000 PLASMA TV HOLE! When a reliable LCD HDTV is a lot cheaper and has great quality. Unless you have the money and don't mind spending it on a top of the line TV. Thanks for reading; I hope I've helped at least one person save a HUGE headache! =)
