Morning*Rose Nine Patch Tablecloth or Quilt
Reversable 50x50
Supplies:
9 fat quarters(can be cotton or flannel)
The fat quarters will complete the front of the tablecloth.
3 Yards for the back....flannel will work well but cotton will too.
To pre-wash or not to pre-wash??
This is really a personal choice. However if you are using flannel,
it is usually a good idea to prewash.
SEWING DIRECTIONS:
1) Cut each of the fat quarters into 17 inch squares.
2) Lay out three rows of three squares as they look best to you.
3) Sew together three rows at a time intersecting seams in opposite directions, so they will lock up against each other.
4) Cut the three yards of fabric into 1 1/2 yard pieces. Place right sides together, trim off salvage, and sew together. Press seams open.
5) Lay out, right side up, place the nine patch, right side down, on top of backing(the backing will be larger that the nine patch) trim backing to the same size as front. Sew 1/4 inch seam around the edge. LEAVE A 6 60 8 INCH OPENING. Turn right side out through opening.
Press and topstitch 1/4 inch from outside edge.
6) Quilt as desired or leave as is....a stitch in the ditch works well.....my Italian Grandmother showed me this and even I can do it!!! Great for a special gift...God Bless you and good luck!
