I love gemstones, and Moldavite is among my favorites, My collection of Moldavite is limited compared to my other gemstones, because finding nice pieces are getting harder and harder to find.

BUYER Beware,  Moldavite does not have glitter-like sparkles in it, but green quartz with druze can have that appearance.  Moldavite and Quartz are not the same.  If you buy something called moldavite quartz - ASK Questions, wether you are in a physical shop, ebaying or buying from one of the numerous internet shops on the net.  Is it actual natural moldavite? Is it Quartz that is a color like moldavite?   Is it Moldavite that melded at meteor impact with Quartz?

Now please understand Moldavite Quartz  and the Green Quartz with druze , can be and is often very lovely, and I like it also and have a few nice pieces of it each- but don't confuse them with Moldavite or pay moldavite prices.

Several of my friends have asked me about Moldavite buying on the internet, and quite honestly until they did ,  I only bought or obtained my gemstones (like moldavite or some of the higher dollar gems)  from physical locales where I could be there 'in person' to  review the specimens.  Of, something of interest, there are some gemstone/rock dealers that you can contact via phone calls and they can provide you a free trial period to preview the stone(s) before committing to the purchase - way cool.

So do some homework (research), Ask Questions before you buy,  if it is a quarantee by a gem merchant,  then ask what that guarantee is and how you can enforce it?

Over the last few years, I have purchase many various gemstones (raw and cut) specimens over the internet.  To be fair out of  MY 90 apox. internet buys,  I got around 65 that were exactly as expected and advertised, so that left me with a large percentage of inferior products,  of real fraud  ,  of  misleading transactions and of  transactions with basically honest but very uniformed sellers.  To give you an idea on MOLDAVITE, I have purchased just  14 moldavites over the internet in the last year - ONLY 5 where the real deal and the others where quartzes  and  chunks of green modern day glass.  (I am not an expert  and I am not as of yet a certified gemologist, but I try to share what knowledge I do have, either knowledge from experience or  from learning)

Pictures here are some examples of Moldavite -  raw unpolished, raw polished & cut gem quality stones.   However Moldavite is found or cut,  its metaphysical properties remain the same.  The first piece of Moldavite  that I obtained (over 25yrs ago)  is the raw unpolished one with a silver wrap. .

Moldavite is always a translucent GREEN stone.  It may appear opaque, but just hold it up to a light source and you will see it is translucent.   Moldavite was named for the location  where it was found - An area near the Moldau River in the region of Moravia & Bohemia regions Czech Republic.   Moldavite  fell to earth like a meteor aprx 15 million years ago.  It is speculated that Moldavite rocketed through the Earth's atmosphere as a super heated extra-terrestrial material and fused with earthly rock formations forming a fused type glass.

It has also been found occasionally and in small quantities in Germany, where the actual Meteorite struck the earth and formed a crater.

Moldavite is also called Besednice Moldavite.  There are currently 4 mines in operation in the Czech Republic that gather the Moldavite -  There was a time when everyday folks like farmers could find and pick up Moldavite in their fields.  It is believed that within the next 10 years, there will be no more Moldavite to be found.   This makes this unique gem a must have Collectible treasure.

Moldavite is the rarest of gems, since they did not originate on this planet, There will be a point in time where even the smallest pieces will no longer be found.  Scientist classify these stones as a Tektite, But don't be fooled, Tektites can be virtually everywhere and are usually black or brownish black, MOLDAVITE IS GREEN and rare.

Moldavite is classified as a mineraloids gemstone and a member of the Tektite family.  It does Not have a crystal structure and the chemical makeup of Moldavite is unique and still not fully explained or understood.

Well cut and the best examples of Moldavite remind you of the look of cut emeralds.

There is speculation that Moldavite is one of the stones of the Holy Grail.    What is known for a fact is that Humans have been using Moldavite in jewelry and meditation and medicinal ways for over 25 thousand years.  It has a hardness of about 5.5 to 6.5 (fyi diamond is 10).  Some of the most beautiful examples of moldavite are in the Smithsonian.

So what does Moldavite offer Metaphysically?   It can be best described overall of a STONE OF TRANSFORMATION.   Moldavite is excellent for opening psychic channels, Cleaning Auras and  it has been known to have great healing properties, and it is suggested that it is useful in extra-terrestrial communications, and also nature and animal communications.   Moldavite pulsates with an energy that is both captivating and enlightening.     It works well in combination with Quartz Crystal, and will enhance the abilities of any gemstone when combined.  It doesn't seem to matter wether it is combined with gold, silver or copper when used in jewelry -  It is a wondrous gem.

There are so many metaphysical properties and potential that the uses and benefits are still being discovered.

I hope that this little bit of information has been helpful to you.  If you have specific questions,  please email me,  I will do my very best to answer them.  And yes,  I will be replacing these pics with better ones in the future.
