I was given the opportunity to do business with Mert Enterprise and when I did, I got completely burned. I spent over $1,000 with this guy and was delivered a laptop that literally had brown dirt inside of the case, would not start up properly and also had a different size hard drive by 30 gigs. When I contacted the seller, he told me the operating system was taking up the 30 gigs that was missing. Hello Um yah I don't have dumbo written on my head. He said that there would be no dirt in the box and when I offered to give him the name of 3 people who were with me at the time I opened the package, He finally relented and told me that he would have to get a swap made. After 2.5 weeks I was still waiting for him to get back to me and I was starting to fall behind in school as I was doing online classes and had burned up my gaming computer LoL.
I finally was told by him that I was going to have return the computer to H.P. and they would have to deal with it, this went in direct contrast to the return policy he had on his site for anything that showed up damaged. I told him this and I was basically told too bad and to call H.P. I called H.P. and I was literally bounced from a call center in Canada, then Mexico, then India, back to Mexico and finally somewhere in California which turned out to be the wrong dept. This was my 1st call and it took me nearly 3 hours with the end result of being told I would have to be transferred again when I finally hung up. I complained to the guy at Mert Enterprises who asked me for a case number which I did not have because I never got the right person. He told me he could not do anything without a case number and that is when I asked him for his case number from the 1st two weeks hat he told me he had been talking to H.P. guess what, he did not have one either surprise, surprise.
To boil this down into a nutshell for you readers, I finally sent a letter to the Attorney General's Consumer Advocate office in Oregon and also sent a C.C. to H.P. headquarters letting them know that I planned to sue not only Mert Enterprise but also H.P. At this point I received a call from a Corporate Manager @ H.P. who told me that Mert Enterprise is not an authorized reseller as he makes himself appear to be, when he repeatedly referenced his "supplier" at H.P. in e-mails to me. I was also told that under these circumstances it was very rare for H.P. to do anything about it for the customer but he said he was willing to make an exception as I had logged literally 11.5 hours on the phone between repeated transfers, lost file notes etc. He said that he was also taking into consideration that to be ripped off as a full-time single father while trying to go to school was simply not right.
It took H.P. 2 try's to get me the right comp. the 1st did not work so I shipped it back after I had returned the original. This meant that I had nothing at all for a computer. The 2nd time It had the wrong O/S system on it, wrong hard drives etc and after reviewing the notes the manager finally set me up with a very nice computer "after I returned the 2nd of course" lol. I was pretty happy but I must say that at 1st I had a couple of system problems and 7 e-mails went non-returned. i am assuming that they just got tired of dealing with it. After working with a programmer that I know who does work with the military, I was finally able to get going. I finally contacted Mert Enterprise a couple of weeks ago, because after all the problems I realized that he had never left me feedback. When I asked him to, he replied that he was afraid I would leave Negative feedback so he was not going to leave me any feedback whatsoever. I sort of told him off and said that he deserved negative feedback. He never checked back with me to find out what happened, Nor did he honor his warranty even though I contacted him within the 1st hour of receiving the computer. It took over 3 months to get things straightened out before I had a working computer, I had to quit my term of school because children are not allowed in the computer room and where I live in the sticks, Daycare options are very slim.
I told this guy that I would leave neutral not negative feedback, but there was no way I would leave Positive feedback for him. Even though I said I would not leave neg. he still refuses as of 4.5 weeks ago to leave me + feedback. I bid on his computer and when I won the auction, I paid the guy immediately. I did all the leg work for H.P. and when I told the guy hey look we could have gone to court instead, he said he would have been happy too. "Of course that is now that I have a new computer." I e-mailed Customer. Service who said there was nothing they could and that the guy can basically screw people out of there money and then leave no feedback so that the buyer cannot leave negative or neutral. I would have filed a dispute but he had told me that he was working with a supposed "Supplier" at H.P. and I took him at his word like I try to do with everyone. I am highly skeptical of people on ebay now and I do not know how much longer I will stay on here, but I really felt that people should know about this guy. I have every letter from him and from H.P. recorded so if he starts to lie, maybe they will just happen to accidently go public.
I was out $1,200 that may not seem like a lot to some people, but man that is a small fortune to my daughter and me. Take care to those who read this and beware, the guy is a complete scoundrel so stay away from Mert Enterprise when buying a Laptop
ADD ON NOTE 2-2-07: I decided I will not leave ebay and instead will attempt to become one of the good guy's of selling at some point. I hope others who go through what I did, decide to do the same and to be honest. Maybe just maybe, Ebay will start getting a better reputation if that happens.
