Since the Target hype began last august, the new 2006 Sizzlers breed hit the market hard.  Ebay has been swamped with these items and every collector just had to have his/her share to complete their stock.

So far, anyone who has done more than just look at these through the plastic cube they are sold in,   has had something to say about actually using them..  Here below, we have brought what others have said to us about these cars, we are appealing to the attention of anyone who intends to buy them. We have no personal opinion about this product, but we feel the buyers should know what they face if they want to get these for their youngsters. 

1. Many buyers have emailed us about the battery problem.  Some have complained that they dont hold a charge after only a few weeks, others say they overheat and leak.

2. Apparently the track sets don't clip together right.  Some buyers have complained that in order to keep the sets together, they had to use packing tape underneath.

3. Almost everyone who uses these is discouraged that the cars are not only heat sealed but also well glued together at both front and rear so that the cars are near impossible to service without breaking them. (Buy, use and discard method? At least the JL cars had screws to open and service them.)

4. The cars appear to be a cheap Knock-Off  of the original 1969 cars, resembling Playing mantis cars.  They use the same cheap Nicad value battery and the exact same slow motors. Customers complain of leaking and bad batteries, and also squealing motors.

5. Wheels keep falling off the cars and the rubber tires loose their grip ability.

6. There is a sheet that comes with each car that has Battery Safety information on it. Some of the information on the sheet is shocking. They talk of chemicals, leaking and burning. It probably costs mattel the same amount of money to provide the sheet as it would to upgrade the batteries to something like ours. 

7. Backwards compatability?  Limited to the ovals only.  Cars are reported to jam when entering the lap computer and when using the scramble start they often have mis-starts. The antenna maounts are a real chore to modify the cars to accept.

Mattel came out with these cars to give society a taste of the late 60's early 70's fun with these toys. From what we've heard, there is no comparison in quality or performance to the old ones being made better, more reliable and were faster. Since we've helped customers find solutions to the many problems with the '06 cars, we've noted that most have been resolved by changing from their manufactured dangerous battery to a safe high performance one, available through our ebay and ebay stores.
