This seller listed a 2006, Mastercraft X-Star for $31,000, which seemed very undervalued. He also offer to pay all shipping chargers at this rate. He offered to allow me 15 days to inspect the boat and return it for a full refund if not completely satisfied. His instructions were for all potential bidders to contanct him to be placed on a preapproved bidder list. I emailed him to request to be approved as a "preapproved bidder."
The guy emailed me back, outside of ebay of course, saying I had purchased the boat and to send the $31K to a bank account in Greece even thought the boat is supposedly located in Ashland City, Tennessee. I located the actual boat that he listed and claimed as "his boat." It is listed in Boat Trader for $62,000 with another dealer in Knoxville, Tennessee. $62K would be about the fair market value for the boat.
This con artist used the same photos that Boat Trader had posted for the actual boat in Knoxville, TN. They were very grainy and suspicious looking. His listing with ebay was to run through October 8th however, the listing was pulled on October 5th.
The sellers name was "Michael Connors" The email address he used was: joshstuart222
