My comment 0n tools:
Tools are a major item in our business, but only certain brands work for certain jobs, and amount of use u do with them. If u don't have the right tools can't do the job. TOOLS DO NOT MAKE THE MECHANIC, Memory and mechanical ability to look at a job,, basic knowledge of how the operation of item works. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT U NEED TO CHECK FOR THE EASY FIX FIRST, MOST OF TIME PROBLEMS ARE MINOR, AND NOT MAJOR. I have used tools of all kinds for years and recommend Snap on for only use to make a living and the other brands are good also matco, mac,, price is a problem with these because if u don't make a living with them u will not get your value out of them (hard to get money back on used tools). I recommend for farms the cheapest tool they can get, price and use value(NO WARRANTY). Home repair person All the standard brands, craftsman-Stanley-cobalt-s k Wayne-proto challenger(WARRANTY). All others the cheapest tool u can buy, don't waste money if only use once in a while.
MECHANIC:
The mechanic of today is parts replaces, not because of them , but they can not get kits to rebuild anything any more and if they do most of the time it would cost the customer more to rebuild than to buy a one rebuilt ( cost of equipment makes it hard to do this, special knowledge takes years to acquire).I moved from cars years ago to diesels of all kinds and then went into rebuilding cause no one does this much anymore. That is why i went to diesels more money and u can rebuild every thing on them, tractors (farm)- stationary equipment-trucks ( problem long warranties on new trucks make this rough business). Diesel engines of all kinds ( most mechanics only know one brand, can't fix other types). The good thing about mechanics is the challenge of learning every year and moving with new ways of doing the same old basic operation of a piece of equipment.
Remember a smart person knows that he will have to lean new things always!
A wise person will learn a little about every thing so he can get along in life and not be taken advantage off!!
If all else fails in life always ask questions of a person U think knows what he is talking about!!
