The purpose of this guide is to tell you about the Italian Designer Marino Orlandi and to warn shoppers that there are sadly now fakes appearing on Ebay.  I have carried Marino Orlandi products for years, which are unsurpassed and are a wise investment and also sell them on Ebay.  I have never seen replicas until 2007/2008 when fake Marino Orlandi bags and billfolds starting appearing on Ebay.  Marino Orlandi will confirm in writing if an item is one of theirs - authentic - they will need a picture -  just email them and ask.   They are still only making their items in Italy - at their factory/store - no part of their items are made in China and they have no such facility in China.  Those items they show being made in China are a fake, and also, there are also some fake billfolds that have marino orlandi and made in italy embossed in the leather that are fakes- therefore I would recommend emailing them to verify authenticity before you purchase, if buying authentic is important to you.  I keep looking and I have yet to find a Marino Orlandi billfold or wallet show up at our 6 TJMax stores or our 2 Marshall's store.    There are only 2 Stores in the U.S. authorized to sell Marino Orlandi  -  TJMax and their partner store Marshalls.

Marino Orlandi bags are made to last and they are far superior to the brands we know of that sell in the thousands of dollars and are made by machine.  You are buying true quality bags in Marino Orlandi-they are a wise investment and are not trendy bags that will come and go.  Althought they don't say their process, over the years it has been written that they use a drum dyed process for their leather goods, which makes their colors so saturated and long lasting.   They will last a lifetime with proper use, maintenance, and storage.   Please check out the other guides I have written on how to care for your leather bags and on Coach.  Information provided in those guides are relevant to Marino Orlandi.

There was a recent lengthy article in our newspaper (and can now be viewed on the internet) that the term Made in Italy is not what it used to mean - true artisians tolling away at producing by hand quality leather goods - rather some manufacturers are sending to China to have made and then returned back to them in Italy where one or two things, etc. are added/done to the item and a "Made in Italy" label is attached  - and that also there are sweat shops in Italy that have cropped up and items being made there where decent wages are not being paid.  Thus the true designer artisian shops find it very hard to compete finacially as those made in the sweat shops can of course sell for much cheaper.  Like Marino Orlandi there are a few other companies/designers  where "Made in Italy" truely means Made in Italy.

I just purchased some Marino Orlandi bags June 2008 for the fall/winter 2008/2009 season which has newly added information to their designer tags that come with all new bags.  While some Marino Orlandi designer tags are still coming in still in the brown and orange colored tags, the newer tags they have produced in black and gold have the following added information which says:  "Marino Orlandi's leather-goods are entirely produced in Italy".  Please see my listings to read the other information that is found on their designer tags.

September 2008. There is a internet website located in China that says Marino Orlandi with the Marino Orlandi logo and pictures of their leather items for sale (no where on that page could I find a disclaimer that they are not Marino Orlandi of Italy so without knowing this you would think they are one and the same) and also another link that shows a picture of Marino Orlandi store in Bejing, China with even the Marino Orlandi logo on the front.  Neither of these are Marino Orlandi of Italy.   They are in no way affiliated with Marino Orlandi of Italy.   So if you buy from, they are not the authentic Marino Orlandi of Italy.  As of April/2009 this website is still appearing and we are still seeing fake Marino Orlandi for sale on the internet.

Thank you for taking time to read my review.  I hope that you will come shop with me, and if you find this review helpful, click on the"Yes" link below - suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
