After getting all kinds of spam e-mail (which I attributed to using my e-mail address on eBay), I thought I had a solution. I opened a Hotmail account and changed my eBay account to use this address, rather than my normal one. Everything worked fine for awhile. Then, I had a problem with a bad buyer, who fraudulently claimed damage to an item, in order to get free parts for another identical item he purchased elsewhere. I agreed to a dispute resolution through PayPal. I was right, how could I lose? Well, I'll tell you how you can lose. When PayPal believes someone's lies. Anyway, I thought it was all over. He got his money back, including shipping. I thought he was happy. That is, until he left negative feedback at the very last minute. Well, I said, I'll just neg him, if that's how he wants to play. The problem was, when I clicked the "Leave Feedback" button, the item was nowhere to be found. I thought there was nothing I could do. A couple of weeks later, after making a purchase, I was leaving feedback, and noticed they had changed the feedback procedure. They had put in a search box for items still needing feedback left. I went back to My eBay, got the auction number from before, went back to the feedback page and put it in. Lo and behold, the feedback page came up for the auction in question! So, as you can imagine, I blasted him pretty well. I thought it was all over, and since I didn't have anything for sale at the time, I didn't see any reason to check my Hotmail account. I knew if eBay had any messages for me, they would show up in my eBay messages. A few weeks later, for some reason, I went into the Hotmail account. Scrolling down through all the spam, I noticed a message that said something about dispute resolution. I opened the message, and it was from Square Trade. (I didn't even know what Square Trade was). This crook had filed a dispute with them, and it had already been closed, because I didn't respond to the original message a couple of weeks earlier! No message from eBay, only an e-mail in this rarely used account. They have access to ALL your contact information such as home phone and mailing address, they just choose to not use it. I immediately contacted Square Trade and eBay, to no avail. Square Trade told me I could file a dispute of my own, which I started, until I found out they wanted $30 up front, and wouldn't guarantee anything. I then told them what they could do with their dispute resolution. It's nothing but a money racket. I give up. The crook won. He got his negative feedback removed, and mine stayed. Some people just know how to work the system. I'm posting this so maybe one person can avoid this happening to them. If you do decide to use another e-mail, be sure to check it once in a while, especially if you have problems with another member.
