Understanding The Craft
by Meena SvaraSpells are extremely powerful, as evidenced by their strong presence in nearly all cultures and mystic systems throughout history. They have the ability to create change within the physical world and within the etheric and spiritual realms as well. I would like to talk a little but about authentic spells, how they are created, what they are capable of, and how you can get the most out of a spell. I will also offer tips on how to authenticate true spell casters and separate scamsters from true practitioners of the craft.
MAGICK IS NOT SIMPLE
I am very disappointed with the amount of so-called "spell cast" items and "witch estate" items that I see online that promise YOU WILL WIN THE LOTTERY---ALL OF YOUR WISHES WILL COME TRUE---etc. etc. I am doubly surprised that these types of over the top sorts of claims get taken seriously. Magick is not that simple. It is not as simple as buying a trinket ring, taking a photo of it surrounded by wavy lights and flames, posting it online, and calling it spellcast. It takes years of study, and knowledge of herbs, roots, oils, mental states, understanding of will, and intuition to be able to effectively cast a spell. I have an entire two rooms fileld with spellcasting items, and I am constantly buying other items because different spells call for all sorts of complex ingredients. If a specific spellcast item needs to be anointed, it can sometimes take a delicate combination of three rare oils to do the anointing properly. Not to mention, it takes years of study to be able to spellcast correctly. Add to this, a natural born ability to intuit ingredients and imbuing methods and you can see why we practitioners of authentic spellcraft are so rare.
Creating magickal items is a lot of work. It has been my full-time job for years. I consider myself highly adept at spellwork. I have not only spent years engaged in study, but I have been blessed to have been taught by my elders and other practitioners. Even though I am adept at casting, casting takes an incredible amount of WORK. Just because I am a witch and spellcaster does not mean that everything I touch turns to magick simply by waving my hand over it. I often have to sit for hours crafting a spell bottle or creating a talisman. This is the only way that my items can become imbued--if I put my energy into actively creating it. There are a lot of steps involved, and you will see that reflected in my work. Just because I am gifted does not mean that spellcast items fall out of my ears every day. Save yourself aggravation and ask the seller questions about where they have studied, what their personal beliefs are and how they cast and create their work. If all they have to say is Madame Zelda from planet tiddleywink passed away and left them 5000 spellcast items--then you'd probably have better luck trying to cast a spell yourself!
WHAT SPELLS CAN AND CANNOT DO
A spell is a like hooking up your desires to a super charged battery.Expertly cast spells can create amazing changes in your life and circumstances. However, some casters lie and make outrageous promises in an effort to spark your interest. Money spells can be very powerful at creating financial gain and creating more material abundance in your life. They can be very effective when it comes to positive career changes, promotions, and legal matters pertaining to money. If you are struggling financially, an appropriate money spell can help turn the tide in a different direction. Money spells cannot make you win the lottery. They can increase your odds of winning, but anyone who promises that you will win the lottery as a result of a spell is flat out lying. As a spellcaster, it is unethical to make such a grandiose promise.
Spells like love spells can reunite lovers as well as bring new romantic interests into your life. They can also help speed up the process of finding your soulmate or meeting your destined partner. They are effective in healing all kinds of relationships as well as healing emotional pain. They are very effective with anything to do with the heart, love, and human relationships. If you are trying to bend a persons will by using a spell for them to fall for you, the spell can work--but beware. The adage "Be Careful What You Wish For, Because You Will Get It." is something to keep in mind when it comes to spells. So, think through things carefully before deciding to bend another persons will in your direction.
THE MAGICKAL BOOMERANG
In magick, the best rule of thumb is to "play nice".There are many unforessen circumstance that occur in magick, and much of it has to do with the law of karma and free will. Not everything is predestined. Say for example you want to win over the heart of someone who is already in a relationship. The spell may work, but then you may have to deal with unforeseen circumstances like a very angry partner of the person you wanted who could wreak sheer havoc on your life. I always advise using spells respectfully and with caution. As a spellcaster, this frees me of personal karmic repercussions---and it gives you the option of deciding how you want to work with the spell. It is always best to work magick to the betterment of all involved. Any spellcaster who fails to issue a warning about these types of spells, concerns me. As my client, you are free to do as you like with your spell. But, I feel it is my responsibility to tell you where and how repercussions may arise. After all, I am the maker of the tool.
The law of karma comes into play when it comes to spells. For example, I cast revenge spells but I always advise my clients to use the spell carefully. My revenge spells are cast more as justice spells rather than spells to bring harm to another human being. When using a revenge spell it is best to say something to the effect of "May so and so be brought to justice and swiftly suffer the fruits of their cruel actions." This is a safe and effective way of imploring the Universe to speed up the process of justice while at the same time preventing yourself from any negative repercussions. Everyone must reap the fruits of their actions. A spell can help implore the Universe to make that process evident and swift. If you were to cast the spell with a wish for death, bodily harm, or other catastrophe toward the person--you put yourself at risk for the boomerang effect of magick. The energy that you put out is the energy that you recieve back. The revenge spell is a good example of how to use seemingly "negative" spells effectively without creating too much of a whirlwind of negative karma for yourself. When my clients order my spells, I always advise them on the best way of casting energy for their specific intention without incurring any harm on themselves.
SPELLS REQUIRE ACTION
Spells feed off of your desireYou will get as much and more out of a spell as what you put into it. Think of a spell as a powerful amplifier that amplifies your actions, desires, and emotions. Let's say you buy a money spell and you want to direct the spell toward the finding of a new job. Your spell bottle arrives and you follow the instructions, placing it in a place where it will be visible to you every day. Then, you sit on the couch for the next few months watching tv, not looking for jobs, waiting for the spell to work. If you do not take ACTION, there is no outlet for the spell to work. The spell feeds on your desire. Desire is manifested in the physical world by the action you take toward meeting your desire. If you do not throw your own energy on the spell, it has nowhere to plug into. It would be like getting a supercharged battery and then not hooking it up. It is the same with all spells. They will have effects regardless of what you do, but if you want to feel the full-on, dramatic, fireworks of the spell, then you need to "bond" with the spell by throwing all of your energy on your intention.
FINDING AUTHENTIC SPELLS
Understand what spellcast means and what it takesAs I mentioned in the beginning of this guide, magick is rather complicated and involves many different steps and processes. This why spells are typically in the forms of brews, oils, talismans, and other handmade items. I feel my anger meter start to rise when I look at listings containing rings that were bought at Wal-Mart that are bearing claims of being spellcast by someones witch aunt or something. I am also amazed by the amount of witch aunts that seem to die every day and leave hundreds of spellcast trinkets behind.
We who follow the old ways still embrace those methods. Witch balls, talismans, amulets, bottles, spell bags, and other handmade items have been our method of spellcasting for hundreds of thousands of years. This is because it is vital that spellcast items are imbued with the subtle powers of many ingredients as well as our own energy. If it were as easy as going to the store and buying some jewelry, I would be one happy woman because it would mean way less work for me. But that is not the way true magick works. I am not saying that jewelry and other items cannot be spellcast simply, but it is the complex and antiquated methods of spell casting which have served us and humanity so well all of these years. It is called the "craft" for a reason.
So, if you are looking for true magick, look for the magick that follows the time honored traditions. Seek the help of a hoodoo root worker, a genuine voudou preistess, a wiccan well versed in the craft, or any other of the independent craftspeople who still make their living following the true meaning of the craft. Build a relationship with your spellcaster, ask them questions, find out what their intentions are. Spellcasting is based on a relationship of mutual respect. We have our secrets yes, but we are very comfortable in discussing our craft.
Best of luck on your magickal journey!
