Lucky Bamboo - Dracaena Sanderia
I purchased my Lucky Bamboo in a Jade Color container several years ago and kept it on my desk in the office. We had tinted windows that allowed enough sunlight to provide direct and indirect light for the Bamboo plant. Several months ago, I was shopping at local retailer and couldn't believe the beautiful Lucky Bamboo that were present! Very reasonably priced and in a standard plastic container. I looked amongst the planters and found one. 'You are my chosen one and I will take good care of you"! This was my first with multiple stalks that are intertwined and curly.
Choosing your Lucky Bamboo
-
Look for a Lucky Bamboo with a bright green color and healthy leaves
-
Make sure the container is at least half-full of water
-
See if there are some roots showing
-
Avoid any yellow or brown leaf tips, yellow stalks, bruising, or any sign of infestation
My Lucky Bamboo was grown in water with small stones in the pot for stability. The multiple stalks are tied together with gold ribbon for good fortune. Curly stalks are more expensive because they have to be grown into those curves. People believe curly stalks to have stronger luck.
How Many Stalks
Each stalk of Lucky Bamboo grows individually. More stalks create a larger and more stunning arrangement.
2 stalks = love
3 or 6 stalks = happiness
5 or 7 stalks = health
8 stalks = wealth
9 stalks = general good fortune
21 stalks = blessings
