The "Lost Wax Casting Method" is an extremely accurate process for reproducing sculpture in metals such as bronze and aluminum. It was developed thousands of years ago and although modern techniques have improved the process, it still remains labor intensive as skilled craftspeople are needed every step of the way. Taking an original work made in materials such as clay or plaster, a negative impression is made using rubber. This rubber negative mold will produce an exact replica in wax. The wax is invested in a casting mold and melted out of that mold leaving a negative impression that the molten metal will be poured into and will then form the cast reproduction of the original. The metal is chased and colored(patina) to complete the process.
