ARE YOU ALWAYS LOSING YOUR KEYS?
There are many of us who lose our key sets frequently. The panic and utter dismay you feel when your realize that you have no idea where you lost them but you need them! The stress of dealing with the fact that you have to try and not only remember what keys you had on the ring, but where can you get a copy and how much will it cost?
Where to look to see if your keys have been found.
First of course is to retrace your from the last place you remember having your keys. The next step is to look in the places that you wouldn't expect to see them in. Did you recently empty your pockets, pocketbook, brief case or bags? Look in the refrigerator - did you go in and grab a drink before leaving? Look in the bathroom ~ inside a pair of shoes near the door ~ look in the door lock.
After searching for them and you now believe they are lost and no where to be found, start thinking about where they might get turned in to if found by someone else. Getting them back may be a long shot but it's possible. But first someone has to find the keys, then go out of their way to turn them over to a Lost and Found.
Check in the lost and found area of where you think you lost your keys. These lost and found areas could be located in local businesses , local government, county and state buildings. When all else has failed and you can not find your keys anywhere there is always the crazier methods such as listing them in a local paper, making a post to a "craigslist" or asking for help from a clairvoyant
or psychic!
TIPS TO HELP IN THE RECOVERY OF YOUR KEYS
Some of the things you can do to better your chances on getting your key ring back is to use some of these methods of making your keys stand out so that someone might just pick them up or remember seeing them..
-
Make use of those free business key chain tabs that companies give you as a member in their programs. Almost all of them have a return keys policy where they provide the postage back to their designated mail address if the keys are placed in a mailbox. It may take awhile to get your keys but at least you may get them back.

In this day and age it is not really a good idea to place your personal information such as your name, address and phone number on a tag on the keychain. But it is an option that you can consider.
-
Use a combination of very visual and rememberable items on your key chain. Some ideas include a very bright colored object that can be seen from a distance, glow in the dark item, odd shaped or unusual items or even lanyards. I say to use a combination of these because if you are calling around looking for your keys and you describe them with having one of these "stand-out" items maybe your item was broken off or removed prior to being turned into lost and found.

Look into the new lost key finder tech toys that have come out recently. Some use clapping, whistles and more!
LOST CAR KEYS
One of the worse problems that you may face is when you lose your car keys. The new trend with many car companies makes it hard for you to get a replacement car key. Most new car keys now contain electronic chips. Where your car can be programmed with an access code to accept a replacement key, many times it can't be done by a local locksmith but instead only by a car dealership or the car company's own roadside assistance program You should ask and receive your car's key codes when you purchase your new car and file that information away with your important papers. Always be sure to keep a spare set of keys somewhere that is safe and accessible to you at all times.
