This is a guide for the community of fans and followers of Los Lonely Boys, the San Angelo, Texas based band to the sorts of items that you'll find available on eBay.

Los Lonely Boys are their own musical genre - "Texican Style".  While they themselves have said that "it's just three guys making up a name", their music defies any sort of classic categorization, so "Texican Style" is as apt a description as exists.  There are elements of most music genres starting from 1950s rock and roll to the present, with a very heavy influence of Texas blues (Stevie Ray Vaughn), but none of the material fits into a single category cleanly  Too many influences!  Or as the boys put it - we put in a whole lot of styles and serve up a tasty musical burrito.

Los Lonely Boys are Henry, Jojo and Ringo Garza, and they really are three brothers who hit the road here in Texas and made it big by giving us the gift of a heartfelt prayer set to music -"Heaven".  And they've given us a lot more...read on!

General

You can expect to find Los Lonely Boys items in any of the major interest areas that I've listed below with a bold highlight.

Some of the places to look for LLB memorabilia are a little subtle however.

Los Lonely Boys have a very active charity outreach.  The band has donated to and directly supported a number of causes, including kidney research and transplanting, Big Brothers / Big Sisters, and, of course, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, which personally touched them early in their career.  LLB covered John Lennon's "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" for Amnesty International's Instant Karma: Campaign to Save Darfur release.  LLB has performed more than a few benefit performances as well - many here in Austin - to support the needs of musicians here locally, such as Omar Kent Dykes and Alejandro Escobedo.  And there's a 1957 Chevrolet Station Wagon with a custom LLB-themed paint job that will be on tour here in the US, and which will be auctioned for charity.

Los Lonely Boys have co-performed with a number of acts.  Hey, I'm a fan, and even when they "open" they typically stop the show!  And, they, in turn, have had acts open for them as their popularity has grown.  So as you search for Los Lonely Boys items, you'll find them listed other bands, including Santana (tour and album performance), Shelby Lynne (tour), the Doobie Brothers (tour plus Pat Simmons' work on "Roses" on Sacred), the Rolling Stones (tour) and, of course, Willie Nelson (tour, FarmAid, and album performance on the 2003 and 2006 albums).

Autographs

Autographed items are fairly common.  LLB has autographed many items for fans at shows as well as in support of their various charity outreaches.  Autographed items that have shown up on eBay run the gamut - cds, posters and printed material, broken cymbals, worn jeans, shirts, and the ever popular autographed guitars.  Many of these are signed pick-guards that have been mounted to a guitar.  The boys also sign ON THE BODY of the guitar with Sharpies.

Ringo's drumsticks are printed with his signature as well as a small caricature that he draws of himself.  You can always tell a stage used drumstick - it is always dented heavily and many times broken.

Henry's picks (also mounted on Jojo's mike stand) are typically Fender 346 heavy style, white or dark brown.  Most of the white ones have the old Los Lonely Boys State of Texas logo print, and Henry's sig on the reverse.  The dark browns typically have Henry's signature only.  Stage used picks will be beaten up; at a recent show in California, Henry wore a pick down to thumb level doing one of his hurricane strums and then threw it into the crowd.

Music

Los Lonely Boys have been making music since they were very young.  2007 marks 10 years of recorded material, although the very early items are very, very scarce.  There is no copy of Teenage Blues known to the fans or band management, nor an existent copy of their first real single "Information".  The only copy of Uno Demo known to most of us - still cello wrapped - was an eBay listing several years ago.  Most of the rest of the items listed below appear on eBay from time to time.
  • Uno Demo (four song cassette - 1997)
  • Los Lonely Boys (1997)
  • Teenage Blues (1998)
  • Heaven (single; red cover - Spring 2003)
  • Real Emotions (four songs; red cover - Spring 2003)
  • Los Lonely Boys (radio promo - acetate, white label, cardboard sleeve - 2003)
  • Los Lonely Boys (radio promo - black cover standard cd - 2003)

And I'll list the DVD documentary - Cottonfields and Crossroads (2007) - here, since LLB's music is the backdrop to the interviews.

There's a single of Senorita that an eBay seller in Spain makes available from time to time, and there are foreign versions of the albums also available from time to time.

Crossovers and Other performances include:
  • My Neck Is Itchin' - Tree Thirteen's Rough Grooved Surface (Henry plays on the song)
  • Castanets (Alejandro Escobedo song performed by LLB on the Por Vida album)
  • I Don't Want To Lose Your Love (LLB song as LLB/Santana duet on the All That I Am album)
  • La Bamba on the Dora The Explorer Dance Fiesta album
  • CMT Crossroads with Ronny Milsap ("All Is Fair In Love And War" and several other songs)
  • Whatever Gets You Through The Night (John Lennon song on Instant Karma / Amnesty International Campaign to save Darfur)
  • Background vocals for Phil Vassar's Prayer of a Common Man: Why Don't You; song written by Shawn Sahm of Tex Mex Experience, and includes Michael Ramos of TMX on accordion; Mike did the accordion on Texican Style on Sacred
There are printed songbooks for both albums, as well as separate sheet music for Heaven and Diamonds.

The band is very "taper-friendly", and there is a fairly large archive of recorded shows available.  These recordings, both audio and video, are mainly fan-grade, and only very infrequently are they soundboard takes.  That having been said, most have more than one camera angle, and very good sound quality, and there are several custom art covers.  These recordings are not normally commercially traded due to copyright and performance issues.  However, for a while they did show up on eBay...and might again.

With Heaven's success, including the Grammy win, several LLB songs have moved to karaoke collections as well.

Clothing / Fabric / Textiles
  • Band merchandise
    • Long and short sleeve black t-shirts with Los Lonely Boys on the front and the "tribal" logo on the back are probably the most common merch item.  Long sleeve shirts will also have the "tribal" scrollwork on the sleeves.
    • Fillmore shirts
    • Santana Tour Shirts
    • Baseball style shirts
  • Tour items for stage hands
    • 2005 Tour Shirt is an old-style western sheriff's star
    • 2006 Sacred Tour Shirt is typically brown with the same icons that are on the album
  • Fan-produced Art shirts
    • There is quite a bit of fan art that has been turned into shirts, mainly related to shows or album releases.  The Sacred Album Release Shirt was fan designed and produced.
  • Special items
    • Mueller Law Offices (Austin) LLB and Del Castillo Show T Shirt
    • Pillowcases
    • Belt Buckles, Flasks, Plates and other photoprint merchandise
    • Reconstructed Shirt - a standard short sleeve LLB shirt turned into an off-the-shoulder tunic by userid 1_rockin_mama
Memorabilia

Black Fly Swatter - Atlantis Music Festival

Picks (stage played):
  • Fender 346 style white pick with LLB / Texas logo on front and Henry Garza sig on reverse
  • Fender 346 style tortoise pick with Henry Garza sig on one side only
  • Fender 346 style tortoise pick with Henry Garza in gold ink (special gift run for Henry)
There are a variety of passes and "laminates" that are issued to band personnel.  Most common is a self-adhesive tyvek pass that indicates "working" or "family" or "press" etc.  These are typically filled out with the date of the show and have no value after that date.

Official Swag

For those unfamiliar with the term, swag (sometimes mispronounced / misspelled as schwag) is promotional material for the band.  I've differentiated the list for "official" - produced / provided by Or Music / Epic / Sony Music - and that produced by fans.
  • Red guitar picks - LLB tribal logo on front / Los Lonely Boys in stores now llbmusic . com - printed and distributed in connection with first album.  [eBay: this is not an off page link; the reference is part of what is printed on the reverse of the pick]  While they are sometimes represented as "stage played", I have as yet, in five years of shows, to see them being used on stage; they appear to be marketing picks only.   Unknown amount printed, but the street team still pass some out from time to time.
  • Temporary tattoos - LLB tribal logo
  • Coasters - heavy absorbent cardboard
  • Album release posters
    • Los Lonely Boys
    • Los Lonely Boys SE
    • Texican Style  - Live from Austin
    • Sacred
  • Stickers - 2x2 Sacred album cover sticker with tour dates on paper back
  • Bumper Stickers - also for Sacred
Fan Created Swag

LLB fans have produced a wide ranging list of items that have been distributed at shows.
  • Jewelry, including silver pendants of the LLB silhouette.
  • As an aside, the red marketing picks mentioned above have been drilled and mounted to wires for use as earrings.
  • Fender 346-style picks for the Forgiven release
  • Lanyards - for the Sacred album release, featuring gold and silver printing on a black lanyard.
  • Art - in addition to posters, there's been a large amount of fan made art, most of which has been iron-on transferred onto Tshirts.
  • Posters - a recent eBay auction included a fan-made poster (artist LosLonelyGirl) in which Lonely was redone as Lovely.  LLB not only saw the art (which they found funny), but autographed the item.  There are probably only five of these in existence.  Another poster, also from LosLonelyGirl, commemorates the Back To Back Los Lonely Boys shows at Stubbs here in Austin.  Only five were printed.
  • Mardi-Gras style beads with custom LLB dangle
  • Custom playing cards - a very limited set created for LLB's first show in Las Vegas.
  • Mousepads
  • Cigarette cases
  • Clocks
  • Towels
  • Keychain tags - most of which are two sided with photos or other art.
While not precisely swag, in that they are not normally given away, the LLB Street Team / Fan Club - named "La Onda" - annually creates a street team badge for fans.  These are normally 4x6 inches in size, and have an LLB theme and the name of the member.  They are fairly commonly misunderstood to be band or backstage passes.

Posters

Show posters - lots of them!  Most were produced in support of a show.
  • New Years Eve 2004 with Robert Randolph
  • New Years Eve 2005
Many of these posters are available in eBay Express.

Other recommendations

While LLB does change instruments from time to time, and play some special equipment, the major manufacturers in use right now are:

Fender (lead guitars, primarily Stratocasters)
Hohner (six string bass guitar with wireless)
Lee Oskar (harmonicas)
Drum Warehouse (drum kit)
Zildjian (cymbals)
Marshall (amps)
Ibanez (pedals)

This is in no way intended to diminish the visibility of special equipment that has been made to order for LLB, such as their custom guitars; it's just that those items won't likely become available on eBay.

The Texican Chop Shop (TCS)

In 2006, Los Lonely Boys opened the Texican Chop Shop in San Angelo, Texas.  While the shop specialized in custom automobile work, sometimes shop merchandise, including shirts, belt buckles and baseball caps becomes available.

Fashion

One of the most defining style items for Los Lonely Boys is that they normally perform wearing Stacy Adams shoes, with the black and white patent leather spectator and black patent leather being the most common observed.  Every now and then, Henry will wear a red pair of Stacys.

Web Presence

Since a guide can not contain off page links, I'll simply recommend that you search up Los Lonely Boys, and you'll find the path to the current site.  There is a fairly lengthy Wikipedia entry as well.

Fan Organizations, Clubs and Teams

Los Lonely Boys have an official fan club (see their main website) as well as an official Street Team (with its own website) and several fan-maintained sites as well.  The main lyrics repository is maintained on a fan site.
