Yes! You can find you our your child's lost blanket, stuffed animal or toy. Here are some suggestions:
1. Post to the want it now section of eBay. Include a picture if possible, and the price you are willing to pay. The higher, the better - sometimes people are hanging onto the item you want but may be persuaded to sell it for the right price. Be as descriptive as possible - include color, size, manufacturer, and if you know, when and where it was purchased.
2. Add the item to your favorite eBay searches so eBay will email you if and when one is listed. Also try searching in general (pink bunny instead of pink gund bunny, for example) because sometimes people don't know the brand name of the item they are selling. When you do see that it is listed, don't forget to bid or get overbid. Setting an alarm is good, using a sniper service to do your bidding at the last second is even better - and that way you wont forget to bid. You might also want to contact the seller to see if they would add a buy it now. If there is a buy it now, what are you waiting for? Buy it before someone else does!
3. Visit the thrift stores in your area. Most have tons of stuffed animals and toys. Keep visiting every week or two.
4. Go to garage sales! Even if you don't see it, ask the person. You never know if they just havent gotten to it yet, but do have it.
5.In the spring / summer, check into church garage sales, or the big sales inside community centers and school gymnasiums put on by moms groups. Check cragislist or the local newspaper for dates and times.
6. Most cities have children's consignment stores. Get to know the people that work there and let them know what it is you are looking for. The one by me even has a list you can write down what you are looking for, and they will contact you if they get one in.
7. Use a search engine like google or yahoo. This may lead you to a site that has one for sale. Amazon has lots of things.
8. If it was recently that the item was lost, call all the places you were that you could have possibly lost it, and have them check the lost and found. Keep calling every few days. If possible, stop in in person as well. You would be surprised at the number of employees who, when asked to look for something, put you on hold, go do something else for a minute or two, and come back saying they couldnt find it when they never checked (or perhaps they glanced in the lost and found bin but didnt dig)
9. Keep at it! Eventually, you will locate it!
10. Don't stop there. Make sure you have a back up so that you don't need to panic!
