Eye Shadow: Make sure you apply a base (Clinique has a great cream shadow that works as a terrific base). This give the powder something to adhere to.
Mascara: Particularly for those with lighter colored lashes, coat the lashes on the top, sweeping downward, as well as from the bottom to the top. The will insure that your lashes are the same color, both top and bottom.
Curling your lashes: Use your blow dryer to lightly warm your eyelash curler before you apply it to your lashes. Once applied, hold it for a few seconds; this will give you a better longer-lasting curl. If you are careful, you may do this even after the first coat of mascara has been applied. However, make sure you clean the rubber part of the curler before re-use. This works even better.
Applying powder eyeshadow: It is wise to apply your foundation following the application of the power flecks on your cheeks. However, if you prefer to apply powder eyeshadow following your foundation, hold the folded part of a tissue against the upper part of your cheek while applying the powder. This will prevent those nasty specks from falling.
Angled eyeshadow (at the corners of the eyes): Again, use the folded part of a tissue at an upward angle from the corner of your eye. Apply the shadow to that fold, remove the tissue, and blend.
Powder blush: A more natural look can be achieved by blending your liquid/cream foundation with a bit of the blush power and applying it, then blend.
Foundation: I place a squirt or two of liquid foundation on the top of the opposite hand I use. I blend it with my finger and then tap it on my face (forehead, nose, cheeks, chin). The greater amount should be at the center of your face and blended out. Make sure you have the right color foundation so you do not get any neck line. Remember, blend, blend, blend.
