You can read the LitterMaid warranty
in its entirety by going to their website LitterMaid dot com. This is
an excerpt which states "Applica Consumer Products, Inc. warrants our
products against defects that are due to faulty material or workmanship
for a one year period after the date of consumer purchase or receipt as
a gift." and also goes on to say "If the product should become
defective within the warranty period, we will repair it or elect to
replace it free of charge." I've never heard of them repairing a unit except they will send you some parts like the rake for Elite models instead of replacing the entire unit.
If your LitterMaid has failed and is less than one year old, call
1-800-LIT-MAID (548-6243). They will probably ask you to send them the
battery cover and a piece that you have cut from the cord that runs
from the circuit board to the motor which is located inside the rake
arm. On certain models of the LM520 and the newer LME units, there is an electronic component that can be removed from the top of the LitterMaid which they will ask you to send.

They even have it marked where to cut the cable
After they have received the requested parts, they will send you a replacement
LitterMaid. If your unit has the word MEGA written on it, make sure
they know this so that it can be replaced with the proper sized unit.
One person told me that they were sent an LM500 as a replacement for
their MEGA unit. This was most likely just a bookkeeping error.
It does not specifically state this in the warranty, but they will want to know where you purchased the item and if you have not purchased it from an Authorized LitterMaid dealer, they may not honor the warranty. A few of the sellers on eBay are Authorized Re-sellers and the ones who are will most likely have this mentioned in their item description. When speaking with the folks at Applica, it is better to say that you purchased the unit from an Authorized LitterMaid dealer than just saying that you bought it on eBay. If you need any help, contact the person you bought it from and if necessary, get the business name that they use. This is almost always different than their eBay user ID. Applica just wants to make sure that you got it from an authorized source and not through some liquidator. When you buy from an authorized dealer, you are getting the latest model. Items purchased through a liquidator could have been sitting in a warehouse for years.
After you have received your replacement unit, what do you do with the old one? For goodness sake, do not toss it out. If you do not want to save it for spare parts, then sell it or the parts on eBay. Many of the parts cannot be found anywhere except by salvaging them from other units. Please read one of my other guides LitterMaid Broken? DO NOT TOSS IT OUT!
