Never toss out a non-working LitterMaid cat box! Even if you have no mechanical ability, you should consider purchasing the LitterMaid Repair Manual. In fact, every LitterMaid owner should have this manual. You WILL use it someday. Some of the repairs are so simple that anyone with the ability to read will be able to look at the manual and get the unit working again. If the repair is beyond your ability, do you perhaps have a friend or relative who could do it? I'll bet they could after reading the manual.

Now, lets say you have one of the maybe 5% that cannot be easily fixed. You still should not toss it out. You can save it for spare parts or sell it on eBay. If you do not want the broken unit, there are many people out there who are looking for spare parts to fix their machines. Applica, the parent company of LitterMaid, will not sell parts to anyone. So, the only way to obtain them is to salvage them from a unit that is not working for some different reason. As an example, lets say that you have determined that your unit has a bad circuit board. There are several people who would love to get that unit and remove the rake arm to replace the one in their LitterMaid because the gears have been stripped. When you post an item like this on eBay, just try to be very specific and tell potential bidders as much as you can about why it is not working. I think you will be surprised how much you can get for non-working LitterMaid. You might want to take it apart and sell the pieces on eBay. In addition to the motor/rake arm, there is also a demand for the waste compartment cover, the battery cover, the litter pan, etc.

Allow me to repeat the main points in this guide;
1. NEVER TOSS OUT A LITTERMAID CAT BOX
2. Get the repair manual and fix it or
3. Have a friend fix it for you.
4. If all the king's horses and all the king's men can't fix it, save it for spare parts or
5. Sell the parts or the entire unit on eBay.
