Some tips on listing bows on ebay.
1. Honesty is the best policy
2. If there are structural defects such as twisted limbs, cracked fiberglass , delamination , damaged tips ,splits, or modifications , mention them in your ad . Hiding or not revealing damage could potentially injure an unsuspecting archer or bystander !
3. If you are uncertain of the bow condition take it to a reputable proshop for evaluation .
This step may also insure you are not underselling a highly collectible item.
4. All bow collectors will want to know some basic information.
a. Manufacturer and model
b. Serial number (helps to date bows , and also determine if they are stolen)
c. Length and poundage (Usually found along with the serial number on the riser)
d. Condition-If there are issues such as checking (finish cracking) , nonfactory holes
drilled into the bow, stripped threads , stains , vertical cracking of limbs at the riser , or any other
concern please mention them in your ad .Even if the items do not effect the shooting performance
they will effect resale value. This will avoid future problems with
returns , bad feedback ,and loss of reputation as an ebay seller.
5. If you are certain the bow is a wallhanger (non-shootable) mention that fact in your ad.
People often decorate hunting lodges , ranges , or sporting goods establishments with
wallhangers. Although the value is decreased many are still collectible.
6. Research shipping costs as most collectors know the going rates and won't tolerate
inflated costs from sellers . In most cases a bow may be shipped USPS
to the lower 48 for $20.00 or less. They also have telescoping boxes that work great for shipping
bows. Hope these tips will help buyers and sellers.
