When you make the decision to sell your 35mm camera equipment, pricing is one of the first things to consider. The item may be one you purchased new or it might be a gift you no longer want or need. This sentimental attachment should not affect how you price the item.
Before listing your item, do a Search of similar items. Read the listing for items that match yours - either closely or exactly. If you're listing a CANON FT B with a 50mm f1.8 lens and there are 22 listed ranging in price from $9.99 to $19.99 it would be pointless to list yours for $99.99. Of course, if your FT B includes a flash and an extra lens and perhaps a camera bag it should be worth more. Again, look for similar packages and price yours accordingly.
Writing your listing will also be aided by seeing how others have done it. A listing for a "MINOLTA 35mm camera with 3 lenses" will attract less attention than "MINOLTA X-700 w/28, 50 & 200mm lenses". Writing your Description should also be as detailed as possible. State the name of the lens manufacturer first and describe each lens seperately. All the needed information can be found on the front of the lens. Your description might look like this:
MINOLTA X-700 camera in good working condition. Meter works, film advances and shutter fires. This camera has 3 Operating Modes: "A", which is Aperture Preferred ( you select the f-stop, the camera selects a shutter speed); "P", which is Program Mode (all you do is focus, the camera chooses a shutter speed and aperture); and full Manual Metered Mode. Lenses must be the MD models to work correctly with the Program Mode.
Vivitar 28mm f2.8 wide-angle for MINOLTA MD mount. Lens is clean with no signs of haze or fungus and no scratches or cleaning marks. Focus is smooth, the diaphram is oil-free and snappy, f-stops snap into place crisply.
MINOLTA 50mm MD ROKKOR-X f1.4, etc.
Vivitar 200mm f3.5 telephoto for MINOLTA MC mount, etc. (Note here that this lens will not work with the X-700 in Program Mode.)
If you are selling items of which you have little or no knowledge you might consider an expert's opinion. It will be helpful if you take the camera or lens to a camera shop and get their opinion. You can also look for information on the web.
