When you have several items to sell ... Offer a multiple item shipping discount / combined shipping program ... and ... List your high value, more popular items first ... so that these items close at the earliest point in your auction sequence. This allows your auction winner to "Continue Shopping with This Seller" ... and ... "View Seller's Other Items" ...

I buy and sell Laserdiscs and Anime items on eBay. I like it when a seller offers a shipping discount on multiple purchases. I find this to be a powerful incentive to review that sellers other items to see if I can score a low price on an item and make a big savings on shipping, too.

If you list your more popular items to close ahead of your other auctions, the buyer of your popular item will have an opportunity to see all of your other items ... and the lure of reduced shipping costs will make them more attractive!

I usually do check a seller's other items when I "win" an auction. Reduced shipping will tilt me towards buying an item that I would not have considered purchasing, before.

With Laserdiscs ... media mail is a popular shipping method. A single disc mailed within the "lower 48" will have an actual postage cost of around $2.75, or so. Sellers usually charge $4.00 or $5.00 to include packing and handling charge. These same sellers often offer "shipping for additional purchases adds only $1.00 each!" So ... I can buy a $10 laserdisc and pay $5 shipping ... $15 total transaction ... or I can buy three of his listings at $10 each ... + shipping of $7 (5+1+1) ... for a transaction total of  $37 ... compared to 3 individual sales at $10 +$5 each ... $45. I saved $8.00 ... almost 20% savings! ... almost the cost of whole laserdisc! ... thanks to the combined shipping discount.

So ... List your more popular, faster-selling items first, and offer a combined win shipping discount. Be sure to describe your discount policy as a feature in your listing on every auction or buy-it-now item. If you have different types of items for sale ... laserdiscs, anime toys, and typewriters ... you might still offer the discount by saying that the buyer will be paying full price for the most expensive of the shipping costs and get a discount on any other purchases.
