The above is a list of metal devices that are sometimes attached to US Military Medals and Service Ribbons depending on award specifications, branch of service, number of battles, and other determining factors. Most of these are worn on both the medal and ribbon (unless specified medal only or ribbon only). You may find these small pins in jewelry boxes and not know what they are! They usually have 2 prongs on the back.
