Lingerie Care & Tips
First of all, ALWAYS WASH YOUR LINGERIE WHEN YOU BRING IT HOME!!! Whether they’ve come direct from the factory or direct from your local store, always assume nothing is fresher and cleaner than the laundry you have done yourself. We suggest a very mild detergent such as Ivory Snow and hand-washing in cool water. Then hang it up to drip dry. Those little hangers we send with many of our bras? Great for drip drying your bras. Put them down in the laundry room and use them just for this. This will preserve embroidery, straps, and underwire. If you must use your machine you should always use a lingerie bag. Do not stuff the bag full—no more than ½ full without stuffing is a good rule of thumb. Always close the hooks and eyes of your bras before laundering and inspect and treat stains prior to washing (again, always in cool water). For any bras with molded cups. avoid the washer alltogether. Soak in the sink and drip dry or you'll lose the integrity of the cup shape and the smooth seamless shape will become permanently wrinkled and misshapen. All that money spent and down the tubes. Just not good.

Should you have an unmentionable stain on you unmentionables, you should rinse the stain as quickly as possible with COLD water. Hot water can set stains and make them extremely difficult to remove. One of the best cleaners I have discovered was at Cacique (remember that store?). Though Cacique is now long gone, those who bought the store and subsequently closed it relocated some of their items to their other store. I’ll give you a hint: one of Vicky’s greatest secrets is her lingerie stain remover. However, you can find others in many stores. I bought about 15 small bottles of it when they had it for $.25 during their infinite clearance sales years ago, and I’m stilling using it. Check out your local discount department store.
"W"-mart has a great laundry stick for a few bucks! A kind customer told me she swears by Colgate Tarter Control Toothpaste and rinsing before wash--an available and frugal alternative! I have found the Colgate works wonders especially when traveling--I always carry a toothbrush when traveling, but a dab of toothpaste can exorcise a coffee stain in a pinch.

If you find your bra band a little a bit snug, purchase hook and eye extenders (available at lingerie store, sewing stores, online, catalogs, etc.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lose a strap to your strapless? These are also available at many lingerie and sewing stores. They even have invisible clears straps so you can wear them even with your strapless dress if you wish.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting married or having a special occasion? When getting your fitting, always take your planned undergarments with you! You may even ask your seamstress to sew your strapless underpinnings or all-in-one directly into your dress. This way they won’t shift, bunch or relocate when you least want them to show or pinch!
