Fight for the Rebellion!
When the Empire is on the march, the Rebels fight back! The Rebel Scout Speeder
is ready for action with a detachable rotating heavy blaster cannon and a crew
of 4 new Rebel troopers straight from the Star Wars movies. Build your forces!
***************************
This is a great little set. I say little because it only has 82 pcs. but the real
value is in it's minifigs, and it's use as an army builder or battle scene addition.
This set represents the Hoth Rebels you see in the opening scenes of Episode 4. They
are true to the movie with very accurate details. The rotating blaster cannon does detach
from the speeder, so the components of this set can allow you to be really be creative with
your custom battle scenes.
It is also very easy to assemble, so even the youngest Lego builder will enjoy it.
(but the decal placement may need a little help from you)
The black visors on the trooper helmets do not go up or down, but they are detachable.
For some reason you get double the decals needed to build as shown. You can get creative
and find places to add the extras to the Speeder, or use them on your own custom creations.
With just a few of your own bricks you can use some of the Minifigs, (Save one to pilot the speeder)
to create a Blaster cannon emplacement, (separate from the speeder), or even a Speeder storage hanger with the blaster cannon as a protective perimeter weapon. I even used this set to set up a scene where the rebels capture an Imperial DropShip (set# 7667), and "guarded" the Imperial Clone Troopers with another blaster cannon made from spare bricks and the extra decals.
If you are buying the Rebel minifigs loose on ebay or elsewhere, make sure you get the real deal, the
faces have a straight mouth, and the helmet chin strap.

The Laser weapons are generic Star Wars with no special features exclusive to this set. The Speeder does have a couple set specific parts, but if you have an "extra bricks" collection of your own you can probably find what you need to create another Speeder.
Summary:
Great set, great value. The minifigs alone make it well worth the $9.99 price!
Expected availability: Using the #7655 & #7654 sets as a guide, you will probably be able to find this set in stores until at least Christmas 08.
I hope you found this review helpful and will rate it a yes when asked.
