No matter how ugly or horrible it may look, painting it or fixing with nails and screws can GREATLY DECREASE the antique's value. If it is something you are looking to keep and not sell take it to a PROFESSIONAL restorer and always check their credentials first. Don't throw the value of your old and ugly treasures away.
