Last minute handmade HOLIDAY GIFT IDEA

Here is a great gift idea for that last minute gift for that unexpected guest or as an extra gift for someone special. It can be personalized in many ways.

Take a styrofoam or paper plate (styrofoam is sturdier). Place homemade cookies, brownies individually wrapped in plastic wrap on the plate. Wrap tiny bundles of chocolates or candies, tied with pretty ribbons and place on the plate. Add some fruit if you like. I usually add an apple and an orange.

Then find your prettiest gift wrap. I use a red cellophane wrap with silver ribbon. Very sophisticated looking. Take two lengths of the wrap - long enough to go under the plate and over everything on the plate. Lay the two pieces on each other in a cross pattern (at 90 degree angles).  Center the plate where the wrap crisscrosses. Gather the wrap up and hold together with an elastic band. Cover the elastic band with ribbon and add a box. Tuck a candy cane in the top if you like so that it peeks out.

You could also use a pair of scissors to curl the ribbon. Add a gift tag and voila! -a beautiful custom made gift at very little cost. These can be whipped together in less than 15 minutes.

They are a favorite of children. They are perfect for that hard to buy for family member. And they are terrific to have on hand if someone brings an extra person you weren't expecting.  This makes a wonderful gift item at little cost to you.
