Need a new laptop battery?  Or AC Power Adapter?  Please read before buying.

Laptop Batteries

First off, let me say when buying a laptop battery on eBay, NEVER buy used. Laptop batteries have a short enough lifespan new.

When buying batteries, more cells are better.  If your laptop came with a 4 cell battery, buying  6 or 12 cell batteries can dramatically extend the time you can go between charges (in my case, going from 6 cell to a 12 cell added 2 more hours of run time). Make CERTAIN that a larger cell battery is designed to work with your exact model first though.  Also look for "Japan" made cells, these are of better quality than the Taiwan made ones. Ebay is a great place to find a laptop battery..... I found a new 12 cell battery for 1/3 the price HP wanted for a 6 cell.

Here is where I have been burned twice, and would like to keep others from being burned also.  Never, Never, Never buy a third party adapter "that will work" with your model! Buy an adapter made by the manufacturer of your laptop only!  I purchased an adapter for my laptop "made for my model" by a no-name asian manufacturer for $30.  Did it work?  Yup, for all of 2 weeks.  I thought "I must have gotten a bad one".  Bought a second no-name (made for my model) for $35.  Did it work?  Yup, for all of ONE week.  Lesson learned..... bought a THIRD adapter MADE BY HP (my brand) for $50.  Did it work?  Yup, a year so far and still kicking.  My grand total was $115 to get a working adapter. If I HAD KNOWN....I'd have spent only $50 and gotten the right kind from the start.  This is one place where going "cheap" may turn out to be quite expensive.  Please learn from me. lol

What is the differences between an official replacement and a third party one?  By looking at them.......none.... then you feel the cord....and you know.  Third party adapter cords are made with smaller guage wire, and flimsy insulation.  They are prone to shorting almost out of the box.  The 2 third party adapters I bought also got quite hot while in use (this can't be good!).

If a seller does not have a picture of the actual adapter.......keep looking.  The GOOD adapter I bought had an ad that said "Original HP adapter", had a picture, and you could clearly see the "HP" logo on the block sticker. The block gets warm, but not hot, the cord has been tripped over many times and never a short..... it is quite a bit more sturdy than the third party models. I couldn't be more happier with it.

Hope I've helped, and good luck shopping!

Again, please click "yes" below if this was in any way helpful.  It will ensure it stays for others to read.
